15. After having struck an under-the-table deal with S. Vietnam NOT to come to the negotation table ...
... until after the election, so LBJ couldn't take credit for a peace treaty. That move alone cost many thousands of lives.

19. "under-the-table deal with S. Vietnam"
They did not call him tricky dick for nothing.. The Pentagon papers pointed finger at a lot of guilty people on both sides.......... just to make a political win and not be the prez who lost a war..
" Under John F. Kennedy, the U.S. government transformed its policy towards Vietnam from a limited "gamble" to a broad "commitment" the Johnson Administration "systematically lied, not only to the public but also to Congress" " the Nixon White House had ordered the so-called White House Plumbers to engage in unlawful efforts to discredit Ellsberg" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentagon_Papers |

I was thinking the same thing. That was Trump level incompetence. Republicans in power tend to bring a whole lot of death and destruction.

5. Republicans incompetent
When a party is taken over by hacks, with no talents or skills other than deceit and money grubbing, this is exactly what you get. Any competence in that party has long since died off or been driven away. It's now the greatest collection of fools, cons and lunatics in American political history.

7. Nicely put.
I’d like to read the history when it’s written later, about the entire republican party AND its voters, who have the common element of consuming large amounts of right wing propaganda.
The documentary, The Brainwashing of My Dad, showed the deterioration of her Dad’s character, caused by a steady, exclusive diet of fux spewz. Great movie if you’re interested in the psychological impacts of CONservative propaganda on one individual. |

And his horrible mishandling of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Lots of Americans died needlessly because they were more interested in laughing about gay folks than saving lives.
