Buy Stamps! If you can afford three or four books, Buy Stamps.

The GOP are moving on their long time dream of destroying the United States Post Office.

4. Think of it as a donation, then.

When you buy the stamps, the money goes directly to Postal operations.

Buy the "Forever" type, as it is a hedge against any future rate increases.

And FWIW, they don't expire.

With revenue they might not have to lay off the letter carriers.

12. It's a big trend on Twitter right now. Share to all social media outlets.

There’s a reason the GOP lives atwitter so much. (I actually wrote “loves Twitter” but that is the best autocorrect!). It does get people fired up.

3. I echo this sentiment!

And by the way, when I went to mail a couple of packages yesterday at our newly set-up-for-social-distancing post office, there was a line for the counter and a line for the self-service machine.

Americans need the USPS, for all sorts of reasons.

"It's heartbreaking to see that many of them have no postmark," she said. "That's not the fault of the voter. The voter has no control over that."

7. Great idea...

I just bought some. The website said it is currently experiencing a heavy order volume and it will take an additional 2 to 3 days to ship. This is one time when a shipping delay is good news!

16. I have some packages to send this week,

I was going to send them UPS but now I'll just go to the USPS instead. It will cost more but it's worth it.

I had an experience years ago that was a very troubling situation and were it not for the Post Master at the PO, who helped me, I would have been in a bad place. I had to Acquire my birth certificate from another state and needed to send a check along with the request. I got all my stuff together and dutifully mailed the request only to realize an hour later that I failed to put the check in the envelope. It was a matter of losing my job ad everything else afterward.

I went to the Post Master immediately, in a large city mind you, and within five hours my letter was found and pulled from the processing line. I raced to the PO where they let me put the check in the envelope and they put it right back into the line and didn't recharge for the postage!!

I have been a supporter of USPS ever since. As I live in a rural state, we need the USPS and I am not willing to pay a fee to receive my mail.

eBay, but buying something you've been meaning to get for awhile might help small sellers at home AND give the USPS some funds for delivering your package too

28. I always keep four or five books of stamps on hand

but I'll go online and order some more right away. And as a hint, stamps make excellent gifts, especially for older folks (like me) who like to keep in touch by mail. You can slip a book of them into a birthday or holiday card, and presto! you've sent both greetings and a gift.

30. Yes, please! My job may depend on it!

Of course, it isn't about me, not by any stretch. I am not that selfish, trust me.

There are tens of thousands of your fellow Americans that are employed by, either directly or indirectly, by the United States Postal Service. Other than the 3 branches of government, the United States Navy and the Post Office and "Post Roads" are the only institutions specified in the US Constitution.

The Republicans multi-year war against the Post Office can not be allowed to succeed!

And by the way, this is a perfect time to write that letter you have been meaning to write forever!

Who doesn't love getting a hand written, or even typed out, personal letter from a friend or loved one? Is anyone ever actually annoyed that they got a friendly letter in the mail?

I read that if every adult American just sent one first class letter a week; a 2 paragraph "Howarya?!" to an old friend, a postcard to Aunt Millie, etc., the financial problems of the Post Office would be over in very short order.

32. Buying stamps is a good idea,

but the Post Office doesn't need money, it has a lot of money in reserve that is set aside to provide benefits 75 years in advance. What a ridiculous law. If Republicans don't want to bail out the Post Office release the money they already have.

33. Because of the way GAAP accounting works, it's better to buy the stamps AND use them.

Buying them and not using actually increases the liability side of the balance sheet.

34. Don't forget to buy post card forever stamps.

I find writing a couple of polite, but pungent lines to my Republican Senator and Representative and their staffs, and sending it in a way that anyone can read it, i.e. via postcard, is a very cathartic activity.
I often write them while watching Chris or Rachel.
I send them to all their local offices, not just Washington, D.C.
Sometimes, I glue a political cartoon onto the front to make my point twice over.

There are also companies that make post card blanks with an adhesive-backed face, so you can peel off the protective cover and attach your very own 4x6 photograph and send it to a lucky recipient!

...we bought a roll of stamps and sent everyone on our list a coronavirus holiday card! We can't go buy anything, so we just wrote a message no matter what kind of card it was!

If you have old cards lying around, send them.

We had stamps delivered from the post office.

40. I buy the rolls of 100 American flag stamps....

When I stamp a letter, I stick it on upside-down, as a signal of distress. As long as tRump/Shitgibbon is stuck to us, we WILL be in distress.

And I usually write "Fuck Trump" under it.

42. That's a good idea. I've been using stamps from an old stamp collection for months.

FYI, some people apparently don't know that unused stamps can be used forever. I picked up a box filled with them at a yard sale for $20. There are hundreds of dollars of unused stamps. Truth be told, I'm looking for a few rarities, but in their absence I still get an endless supply of postage.

43. Once the P.O. is gone. That's it. Never again to be put back together.

The delivery of mail will be "outsourced" to multiple companies that will hire low wage employees who will handle your personal documents and private communications.

These new hires will be provided with keys which will enable them to access apartment buildings and cluster mailboxes.

So many keys, so many low wage folks being hired and fired.

Think about it America.
