(2,535 posts)The way I understand it we can choose up until the person is officially nominated in a convention ~ whether or not online.
As a voter for 60 years, I have seen this attitude of "well now it's over, buh-bye," way too much. My best friend is a doctorate in political science. He said and I quote: "As usual the Democrats choose the least good choice..."
As a Democrat, I will vote for Biden but I still think his feet should be held to the fire or it will be too easy all to forget what this country needs as we have been speaking about for decades. It is only running our country into the ground to ignore We The People.
My 2 cents

(115,679 posts)We have a nominee. A majority of Democrats voted for Biden in their primaries; he is a good man and he will be a good president. You should also be aware that even though Cuomo has been doing a great job as NY governor with respect to the pandemic, he is nobody's idea of a progressive and is demonstrably more conservative than Biden. Current Affairs, a "progressive" publication, doesn't like him at all. https://www.currentaffairs.org/2020/03/stop-trying-to-make-andrew-cuomo-happen Personally, I think this article is over the top, as that publication so often is, but it presents what purports to be a progressive view of Cuomo and it's not what I think you want in a president.

(42,641 posts)And his positions. Yes, he is handling this situation well, however, as a progressive, I much prefer Biden.

(34,136 posts)It is too late for Cuomo to run this cycle. Maybe another year, NOT this one.
While I admire Gov. Cuomo, let's wait and see what happens. Remember, Guiliani was lauded as "America's Mayor" after 911, mostly because of the lack of leadership from President Bush, but he's turned out to be a total nutcase.
THIS year we have our nominee and anyone who has to dis him in favor of a possible candidate who did not throw his hat into the ring should think about their priorities.

(2,535 posts)Is calling out the truth now considered "trashing?" I am not trashing anyone I am simply calling out my concerns. This is not a sin and I thought Dems were supposed to be more open and intelligent, not close-minded. Perhaps not if an issue is called out and is called "trashing."

(27,101 posts)there was coverage about how he has treated the incarcerated population of NY very callously.
He basically said he doesn't have time to worry about them.

(28,817 posts)People have spoken. Bernie lost.
No other candidates.
I say get your pinched nose out of your ass and get with the reality.
Joe is the candidate. Your guy lost. Your second guy is totally not going to happen

(2,535 posts)And this means what before a convention? Perhaps Bernie should give Cuomo his delegates.

(28,817 posts)Because we would never have to hear about Bernies words ever again.

(2,535 posts)Oh GAWD give me a break
I said in my original post that I would vote for Biden as will millions of others who do not want him. Look I have voted for over 60 years. this is not my first rodeo to vote for someone I do not like (as I am retching) "the better choice." I voted for HRC as well. However, if Biden wins do not think for a second that I nor will any others who care about social justice when he did not keep shouting because we know his record. This is what I care about most of all.

(10,828 posts)We already have our Democratic nominee. Any and all arguments to the contrary merely bolster Trump's campaign and mark you as someone who will not support the Democratic Party in 2020.
Not cool. Also not fit to publish for a Democratic forum.
Stop it!

(3,696 posts)You would NOT want him running for POTUS. He has a sh*tty reputation in NY of conspiring with republicans in Albany to keep control out of the hands of Dems who would push for more progressive agendas. I don't live in NY but I have read enough over the years to know he would not be a good Dem candidate and couldn't win a Dem primary.
