I always thought John Bel Edwards would finish out his second term and go back to private life

Now I think he has the visibility and the gravitas to maybe be a national player at some point. He's really managing an impossible situation in Louisiana very well.

And I really like him.

But he is a staunch pro-lifer . . . he can get away with that as a Democrat in very Catholic Louisiana, but progressives in other states won't put up with his position on abortion.
