No, not The Onion.

While national viewers of "Good Morning America" and "CBS This Morning" aired the somber remembrance, "Today" aired Savannah Guthrie's interview with "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" mom Kris Jenner on her breast implants....
In the video, Guthrie announces that it's 8:45, one minute before the moment of silence begins, then launches into the interview. As the Kardashian mom told Guthrie of her decision to film her breast implant operation, Jenner and Guthrie seem unaware of the sober event happening at that moment. Jenner jokes about changing her breast implants, saying, "The reason I went in and did that was because I had had my implants in for 152 years -- you know, a long time, way longer than their shelf life."
She notes, "I made fun of myself. Because at my age, you're over 50 -- like, when do you stop? But it was so important, health-wise, to remind women to check your expiration date because it's a health risk," adding that she had her implants done in 1989. "It is really important to pay attention to what your body is telling you, and my body was saying, 'You're tired, it's enough, get it fixed.'"
"They hate us for our implants!"

(34,179 posts)How long are we going to collectively hang on to this tragedy? How long before we move on? Hopefully this is a sign that we're getting over this tragedy and moving on with our collective lives. Remaining in a tragic place is never healthy for anybody.
I was fortunate, I didn't realize that this date was coming up until this morning.
How long did we dwell on Pearl Harbor? Certainly not eleven years, not to the intensity that we've dwelt on 911.
Let go, move on.

(2,104 posts)'space' so to speak. Eventually it will only be those directly affected who are having the ceremonies/etc.
I also think 'moving on' so to speak might be a good step towards repealing the patriot act. As long as we 9/11 is a fresh open wound that stops all our lives it is easier, I think, to say how we 'need' the reduction of our rights.
At least I can hope that moving on will spur people and our government into dismissing the idea that we need to put away our rights for some security.

(3,194 posts)Who needs to remember something as insignificant as a moment of silence to honor 3K who died on that morning.
We have more important news items to discuss. Like breast implants for a rich, do nothing, reality tv star whose offspring are a bunch of spoiled rich girls.
I absolutely HATE that family to begin with, bunch of egomaniacs that they are. But to ignore a moment of silence so you can do a report on her breast implants, is unbelievable.
We're truly a fucked up country, no doubt about it.

(15,031 posts)Pile the bodies high from the Towers and the Plane.
Shovel them under and let us work --
We are the implants; we shade all.
And pile them high at the Pentagon
And pile them high at Iraq and Afghan.
Shovel them under and let us work.
Two years, ten years, and patients ask the plastic surgeon:
Whose breasts are these?
Silicone or saline?
We are the implants.
We shade all.

I once did similar with this poem to honor the results of an epic ant infestation on a countertop.
