It will be the day when members of Romney's own campaign start leaking stories blaming other people inside the campaign for their upcoming loss.
Recall these articles from 2008:
McCain Blame: GOP's Circular Firing Squad
With despair rising even among many of John McCains own advisers, influential Republicans inside and outside his campaign are engaged in an intense round of blame-casting and rear-covering much of it virtually conceding that an Election Day rout is likely.
A McCain interview published Thursday in The Washington Times sparked the latest and most nasty round of finger-pointing, with senior GOP hands close to President Bush and top congressional aides denouncing the candidate for what they said was an unfocused message and poorly executed campaign.

Sarah Palin "Going Rogue" Charges McCain Advisers
Governor Sarah Palin has been "going rogue." At least, that is the contention of the more disgruntled in the McCain campaign.
As Senator Barack Obama continues to maintain a lengthy lead over Senator McCain in most polls (the Real Clear Politics RCP Average is at 7.7%), the McCain-Palin ticket are showing signs of the strain. With just over a week to go before Election Day, finger-pointing and scapegoating have become commonplace in the McCain camp.

For McCain this started happening in the final few weeks of October. Any bets on when/whether we start seeing similar stories showing up for Romney?
Looks like the vultures are already circling...
Conservatives really don't want to hear more specifics from Mitt Romney
(snip)
All this is true: Romney is coming under fire from fellow Republicans for not being sufficiently specific, and these attacks do reinforce preexisting story lines about Romney's lack of core beliefs. But I don't believe for a second that Romney's Republican critics actually care about whether and to what extent he offers specific policy proposals. Instead, they care about establishing a narrative to explain his defeata narrative that places the blame for that defeat squarely on his shoulders.
For professional conservatives, the only thing more important than winning the 2012 presidential election is not getting blamed for losing it. And as much as they might be disappointed by a Romney defeat this November, the thing that would actually crush their souls would be if Romney were to lose and their ideas were assigned the blame. Better to throw him under the bus now, even if it means he's less likely to win, than to suffer that fate.

(297,029 posts)later. It's Stuart Stevens' fault. Not vetting Eastwood, not letting the pro write the campaign speech, not thanking the troops in the campaign speech he supposedly wrote with mitt..etc etc etc.
Was it Stuart Stevens who told mitt to get out there and attack Pres Obama when the U.S. embassy in Cairo denounced the anti-Muslim film? And, Smirk like a sociopath?
