"SNIP.....

“Like hotels and airlines, cruise companies have seen their business decimated by the coronavirus pandemic and economic shutdowns,” the Washington Post reports.

“But unlike those industries, major cruise operators don’t locate their headquarters in the United States, so they will not have access to $500 billion in aid for large employers in the massive stimulus bill, the industry’s trade group said Thursday.”

......SNIP"

9. The Cruise Industry Was Too Clever by Half As They Say

None of them are domiciled in the US and that ended up costing them. I think they will never return to profitability. They have had one tragedy after another recently.

2. I believe the big cruise lines

don’t pay taxes in the US. I’m okay with them not getting a bail out.

11. Some few

Not all though. I follow a few cruise worker YouTubers who’ve been kicked off their ships after keeping station in the Caribbean for a week or more, and with no guarantee they’ll have a job to come back to.

Honestly, if I was working on a virus free cruise ship, there would be no way you could pry me off without a fight.

4. Good! They didn't want to be US businesses

they shouldn’t expect to be treated like one.

13. And I am perfectly fine with that.

Let it up to their countries of flag and incorporation bail them out, or not.

Isn't that what capitalism is all about? No wait ... I think that's what socialism is supposed to be all about. Sorry, but I'm still confused about why the USA is bailing out any corporations. I guess I really don't understand all that "let the free markets decide" stuff I've been hearing over the years.

14. Good, fuck 'em.

If they want to operate in the US and play by our rules and regulations, fine. Otherwise fuck off.

16. This is a business

that will die off, nobody wants to be in one of the horror stories that we've seen in the last few weeks. No sense pissing away money doing CPR on it.

17. One of the late night cable shows displayed a chart

a couple of nights ago, showing what stimulus packages other countries affected by CV were in the process of instituting in their countries. I wish there were some way to access that again. Looks like very similar remedies to ours are being proposed, virtually around the world.

Since the cruise ship lines prefer to register elsewhere, then that's where they should be looking for assistance.

I may wander over to the Cruise Critic forum - bet there are some interesting threads and comments over there.
