Whats difficult is when rational people are surrounded by the irrational people.

There is ZERO hope to dissuade their understanding of things as the flaw they have is all about understanding things. This is from an email of a friend and his recent encounter.

The other night, on the way home from getting groceries, I stopped for gas and beer. There was a man buying lotto tickets in front of me. While I waited, six feet back, the thought occurred to me that a lot of the same people who say that the 500 to 1 chance of getting Corona Virus is too small to take seriously are the same ones willing to stand in line for a Lottery ticket, when the odds of winning PowerBall, or MegaMillions, are 300,000,000 to one. How messed up is that?

After I paid, the woman behind the counter thanked me for the business. I asked if things were slow and she said she’d only done a hundred dollars in business all day. “Wow” I said. “Sorry things are so bad. At least you work someplace that puts you first in line when the shipment of toilet paper comes in.” No response.

I told her I saw a joke video online of a guy emptying out his gun cabinet, and stocking it with toilet paper. The clerk said at her house they were down to their last roll, but she wasn’t worried about that. She was worried about having enough ammo — that she and her husband just spent $3000 on ammunition, in case this was the start of the tribulation. “We figured — what the hell? If this isn’t the tribulation, then we’ll use up the ammo in the back yard or the range eventually. So, it’s all good.”

I said that it was a shame that ammo wasn’t flatter and smoother and more flushable. She didn’t get that either.

In hindsight, it wasn’t all that good
