interesting thing at the grocery store yesterday
Parkland, Wa (between tacoma and spanaway)
after I went and browsed the half empty store - at check out the cashier said the military came, gave them all papers stating they are authorized to come to work - she said they were told they must keep the papers on them when they leave the house to go to work.... this is all just so nutz....

3. Not surprising
I know our local grocery folks have been given something along those lines.

4. My dispatcher gave me a similar letter the other day,
along with the key to the truck I was going to drive.
It was from the Postmaster Generals Office in DC. I work for a US Mail contractor. |

5. My wife works in an essential industry
They issued authorization letters to carry with them at all times. According to my wife, that was at the request of the mayor. Maybe it's just getting ahead of developments, but maybe there's something else coming down the line.

6. Yesterday
My son came home from his job at the grocery store and showed me a sheet of paper he’d been given at work, stating that he worked at xxxx and was authorized to be out. Signed by his manager.
I had the same thought. So crazy.... |

8. Pretty common
I represent telecommunications companies and their technicians, who have to be out in the field securing, repairing and maintaining the operation of networks are considered essential personnel. We've drafted letters for them to carry in case they are stopped in a stay at home jurisdiction to establish that they are permitted to be out and about.

9. My husband got a travel letter
from his employer, as well. They said it’s to minimize hassles in case employees are stopped going to or from work.
Maybe employers are anticipating stricter enforcement of the stay at home rules. |

10. So if people are allowed to go to the store to go shopping,
why would employees need papers to get to and from work? Unless they set a curfew and they have to travel outside of curfew hours?

Odd.

13. When I lived in WA state
they enforced laws. Letters like this help law enforcement to do their jobs quickly and efficiently.
