GOP keeps blaming impeachment for Trump's refusal to take outbreak seriously

By Dan Desai Martin -March 25, 2020 2:28 PM

A timeline of Donald Trump's impeachment and his bungled response to the coronavirus pandemic make clear one had nothing to do with the other.

Republican leaders have concocted a new excuse to absolve Donald Trump of all responsibility for his administration's slow and bungled response to the coronavirus outbreak: Blame impeachment.

On Tuesday, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) became the latest GOP leader to use the impeachment excuse.

Trump "did lose 'precious weeks' forced to defend himself against bogus impeachment charges," Cornyn wrote on Twitter, responding to criticism from Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who accused Trump of failing to take the growing o seriously in the early months of 2020.

Last week, Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) also blamed impeachment for a lax response, saying he wanted Congress to hold hearings on the topic but they would not because of impeachment.

And people wonder why this country is becoming a fourth world country...........................hey, libertarian republicans fuck you.......................you have this on your fucking bloody hands, you have been laying blame on everyone else for over 45+ years......................and your not, and I repeat your not going to get away with it this time...........................fuck you, and your the horse you rode in on...........................

November 3, 2020 cannot get here fast enough to vote you fuckers out.......................

1. Less golfing, fewer MAGA rallies, less tweeting, less TV watching

might have made a difference, assuming he had the intelligence and desire to address the emerging crisis.

3. Gosh!

We are supposed to rely on and believe in leaders that spew out the toxins of a creative imagination that is all about their own nightmare trying to become real for us?

There are positive, helpful and pragmatic uses for creativity and these people are foisting a self-serving delusion on us that is all the more obvious now that they feel some heat under the pot of their acrid brew.

4. If I remember right

If I remember right, wasn't it the Senate Republicans that were rushing to get the impeachment trial underway so they could hurry up and acquit him? Now they're trying to rewrite history, by saying they wanted to have coronavirus hearings, but couldn't because of the impeachment trial.

5. He was aware of it and called it a "hoax" and then said that it would quickly blow over

Impeachment did NOTHING to keep Trump (or Congress) from doing his job. The only bad thing about the Impeachment trial was that he didn't get removed. For the "party of personal responsibility" they seem awfully loathe to actually take any for anything.

13. GOP admitting Trumps incompetence

So, the GOP is affirming that Trump can not shit and chew gum at the same time.

Incompetence by any other name is Trump.
