Had a "shower thought" today.

You know, one of those aimless things that pop into your head while you're taking a shower and not thinking about anything in particular.

Let's say that you were a long-time DUer, like you joined when GWB started his first term. You participated in DU for a long time, through the GWB and part of the Obama years, and then somehow you ended up on a deserted island with some other regular people. You were on that island for years, eating coconuts, having lively philosophical discussions with other people who were there with you, soaking up the sun, getting your exercise, playing with the friendly monkeys, etc. There is no access to any news on this island.

Then some boat comes by after you've been on the island for a few years and brings you home.

You're feeling great, in the best shape of your life, nice and relaxed, and you walk into your house and get the notion to turn on your old dusty desktop computer and you go right to DU for the hell of it to catch up on what has happened since you have been gone, and you read the first page of GD to get the latest news and you go all bug-eyed:

Wha...

Wtf...

Donald Trump?

Did they make this some kind of satire site?

What in the hell...

VIRUS?

NO FUCKING WAY!

1. Glad to know

that I'm not the only one who gets my best ideas in the shower. Maybe it's the peaceful flow of the water.

2. Along these lines

Someone posted a story about some dudes who had been completely out of touch for a month on a rafting trip and had no idea this was happening until they came out of the backcountry. Talk about minds blown.

3. More Than A Century Ago, Sir

The explorer Shackleton set off into polar wastes on an expedition from he returned after a great span of time to civilization late in 1914, to be told the world was at war, and as the ship's captain informed him, that Europe was mad, the world was mad....

5. Then you go back to the island

for another 10 years.
When you return in 2030 your first question is, “Is he gone?”
You are assured that trump is gone, passed away a few years ago, but the GOP is still in charge.
“But things are going really well. For instance, gas is down to one ruble per gallon.”

6. In "Back to the Future"

When the inventor of the car back in the 50s hears that the president was Ronald Reagan he cannot believe it. Who’s is the Vice President, he asks: Jerry Lewis?
