So now I know someone

My 23-year-old niece has tested positive for the coronavirus.

She was teaching English in the Basque region of Spain, and flew home Monday to her family in Florida. She immediately exhibited symptoms and, because she was in Florida, she was tested within a day. We learned tonight that she's positive. Her symptoms remain mild, and she's resting.

Soon, we'll all know someone.

The Dr is “90%” sure she has the virus but can’t get her tested. This is in Denver.

The chairman of the Dem Party in San Diego is hospitalized with it and has been ill about a week I interviewed him March 3 and have felt slightly under the weather for the past few days. Hoping he wasn't incubating it back then.

So far I just have swollen gland in my neck and a slightly scratchy throat. But this is scary.

There are three prominent local Dems on respirators in hospital ICUs right now. All 3 are younger, probably in their 30s-50s at most.

the word coming down the road is not to get tested because the supplies that the testers are using, masks and gloves are needed in the hospitals. We will be told not to be tested and to just assume that we have #TrumpCovid and to seek emergency services if our situation becomes dire.

It's is best practice to always assume that you have #TrumpCovid and self quarantine.

She could likely has infected many other people on that plane, in the airports, or in any transportation she used. And she may have contracted the virus from any of those.

Sending good wishes for HER full recovery. Keep us posted!

My overly optimistic millennial son flew to Colombia for 2 weeks after the first cases were reported in the U.S. He did so over my objections. I ck for cases in Colombia & there were none but I thought about the airports and planes themselves. He flew back the last of Feb & has been in good health & is now taking CV19 very seriously, hibernating in Brooklyn.

Both were nearly completely unaware of the virus and its impact on the world outside China when their parents told them they needed to return to the U.S. He was studying in London.

The greatest concern is for their father, who is in his mid-60s with underlying health issues.

"Overly optimistic" described both my niece and nephew. Until last night.

If she doesn't have an elevated temperature today, the Florida department of health will stop monitoring her. Her brother and parents have shown no signs yet, but they are all self-quarantined for another two weeks.

So far, so good.

Thanks for the well wishes.
