"This is a virus that came from the territory of China but came from bats. This is a bat virus"

MSNBC ✔@MSNBC

.@RichardEngel: "This is a virus that came from the territory of China but came from bats. This is a bat virus, not a China virus. It doesn't speak Chinese. It doesn't target Chinese people. It targets human beings who happen to touch their eyes, nose or mouth."

11. it's not really a bat virus, because it has mutated since jumping to humans.

in fact the emphasis on its origin is misguided, except to the extent that its origin may help guide research into vaccines or treatments or prevention of future similar outbreaks.

as a practical matter, today, the virus has nothing to do with bats, and little to do with china except as minor historical point.

it doesn't care about your country. it will drown you in your own phlegm no matter what country you are in, so what's the point in arguing about it.

just call it COVID-19 and try to figure out how to best treat the 70% of the planet who will become infected with it.

14. I love bats...

Each bat can eat between about 600 and 1,000 mosquitos and other kinds of insects in one hour.

15. Me too!

We drive to Bracken cave (in TX) twice a year and spend and hour or two watching the bats swarm and leave the cave.

If you're ever in the San Antonio area, it's worth the 1/2 drive into the next county over to watch it!

20. Always blame someone else.

And never take any blame for yourself.

He always wants to be in charge of everything but he doesn't want to be responsible for anything.

21. Swine flu came from pigs, in the U.S. I read a post about China paying for this. Not how it works.

We had the swine flu a couple years back.
