Does declaring a national emergency give trump the authority to shut down the Nov. Presidential

election due to public “safety and security”? I can’t get the thought out of my mind that he may be planning it.

2. No. Article II of the constitution gives that solely to Congress

7. Understand that BUT i do worry about some RETHUGLICON controlled states.

Is it FOR SURE that any one of them couldn't mess with their own state election? I really believe something could happen here! Help me feel better that they CANNOT! TY

15. States set dates and policies/procedures for state elections. For a Federal office, the date is set

by Congress in the constitution, article II.

4. No. States control elections, and Congress sets the date.

Trump has no power over elections.

6. Trump doesn't need laws

He will do as he wishes, and GOP/SCOTUS 5 will be fine with it.

9. I tend to agree with you. He's so devious and scornful of the law I trust him as far as I can

throw him.

8. No no no

Constitution requires that President and VP is elected for only a 4 year term and specifies when that term ends.
There is no legal way for anyone to keep a President in office beyond his/her elected term.
If an election were not held, which also wouldn't be legal, then the terms of the Pres and VP would expire and the Speaker of the House would become President.
Of course, all of this is idle speculation, because if an election isn't held it means we aren't still following the Constitution.

12. Even if the elections were postponed, his term still ends on January 20.

Pelosi would take over.
