and "the conventions are a blur, they were so close together, one yelling one night and the other yelling the next night".
She then went on to say the only thing that matters right now are the debates.
Really?

(36,437 posts)You can bet your bottom dollar that the GOPers got their clocks cleaned at the conventions, and everybody damn well knows it.
They live in a world of trying to create reality through talking points.

(63,889 posts)If she weren't half in the bag all the time she might be better able to discern some differences. I hope she gets some help. I've had alcoholics in my family and it is no joke to see them stumble around and pass out and not remember a word of what happened the next day. Peggy needs to sober up.

(37,364 posts)in sucking the life's blood from this nation through making itself the tool of big money. That message has been on most media outlets for the past week. It's too close to call; flip a coin. America is polarized. Yadayadayada.

In short....a completely unrealistic fantasy world!

(135,425 posts)She reminds me of those young ladies leering and giggling about vibrators manufactured by some condom company that one sees in commercials on basic cable on occasion.

(12,497 posts)When I see those commercials I can't help but think of all the CPR I would be administering if my mother and mother-in-law were still alive today. My MIL probably would have went from church once a day to twice a day.
I can only imagine sitting with your kids when that ad comes on....Oh Mommy.....what's that thing do.....huh.......say that again......why are you looking uncomfortable Mommy........no, I don't want to go to bed now....etc, etc,.....

We had no remote--the youngest kid was the remote (get up from one's place on the FLOOR, and toddle over and change the analog knob to one of three or four channels available). But all those "personal" advertisements were not for young eyes or ears!

I hate to do this because you get a lot of flack on this board if you ever go against the grain. But even the POTUS stated that no one is correct 100% of the time.

(31,706 posts)Sounds like she may have seen polls that show that Bishop Willard got no bounce while President Obama did. Of course the best way to marginalize the gain is to dismiss both conventions; try to make it look like "both sides suck" when your side is losing. Peggers will then dismiss the debates as President Obama being a "wonk"...she carries water poorly...always has...

(4,219 posts)"it was the format that helped Obama, now the next debate will be the key" bullshit and after the second debate they will be saying "well, people always wait until the last debate to make up their minds"
In the end they will say "IF OBAMA HAD JUST NOT SAID ANYTHING, RMONEY WOULD HAVE WON"
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)that matters. Then like you say, it'll become "the second debate is the critical one. The subject matter will be (insert anything here), and the format will be more fair."

(5,810 posts)It's a delusion, of course, and helps keep the viewers interested. If we think Obama has it in the bag (or Romney either for that matter), it might keep some people from following so closely. As long as they can keep saying it's a neck and neck horse race, people from both sides want to see how it turns out. Face it, people, we are a competitive nation. When there is a close game going on the football field, do the fan walk out before it's over? Hell, no. They stay until the final seconds tick down and then still hang around for the victory dance. (Well, at least the winning team and their fans so!)
So Peggy says what she has to say, even though it pretty much conflicts with evidence that is easy to find. Read Nate Silver's assessment today and you'll find that, while he is not prepared to call it for Obama just yet, he is predicting a favorable outcome for him without the intervention of a horrible economic catastrophe or security nightmare like 9/11. And even THAT could lead to a favorable outcome for Obama.
So let Peggy blabber on in her fog. I, for one, usually tune her out whenever she is on air. Such a snob. Bet she and Ann Romney get along real nice.
