Joe Walsh Slams Sandra Fluke On Contraception Issue: 'Go Get A Job'

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/08/joe-walsh-sandra-fluke_n_1867469.html

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) took aim at Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke on Saturday, attacking her on the issue of government-subsidized birth control.

In a video captured by CREDO Super PAC at a campaign event in Addison, Ill., Walsh pointed to Fluke's Wednesday evening speech at the Democratic National Convention, calling her remarks "embarrassing."

“Think about this, a 31-32 year old law student who has been a student for life, who gets up there in front of a national audience and tells the American people, ‘I want America to pay for my contraceptives,'" Walsh told the crowd. "You’re kidding me. Go get a job. Go get a job Sandra Fluke.”

He's desperate to retain his seat because he probably knows he's headed for the slammer when he loses.

But, posted earlier here at DU (sorry, no link), AFAIK, Walsh has caught up with his support payments. So this may not be the best tactic against him.

Instead, I think Tammy Duckworth will have her hands full just responding to Walsh's ever rising daily idiocies. She doesn't have to fall back on his abandonment of his children if it has been resolved.

Walsh, like Akin in MO, is a douche bag who will give his opponent plenty of opportunities. Both are treasure troves for campaign managers. Tammy Duckworth has the whole-hearted support of the national party. She has the best staff.

The only think she doesn't have is Citizens United support. That's why DUers should give to her campaign. This is a House pickup seat. and Tammy has great hopes and chances.

Please give to Tammy Duckworth for Congress

* Bank foreclosed on his condo.
* Sued for $20,000 unpaid campaign management services
* Drivers license suspended for lapsed insurance.
* Sued for $117,000 past due child support from 2005 to 2011

(Chicago Sun Times)

Following Walsh's victory in the 2010 Republican primary, it was reported that a bank had foreclosed on his condo and he had been evicted in October 2009, but that he and his family were living in a rented house in the Chicago North Shore suburb of Winnetka at the time.[1] A GOP spokesman said that voters would likely identify with Walsh's financial troubles.[1] He was also reportedly facing a lawsuit by a former campaign manager who claimed Walsh owed him $20,000 for services.[1] and had had federal and state tax liens in the 1980s and 1990s (all paid by 2001).[18] Walsh explained that the major portion of the past due taxes were on a college trust fund he received from his grandfather and that neither he nor his family had been aware that the funds were taxable.[18] He also explained that his more recent financial struggles have made him more attuned to the difficulties faced by the average constituent.[18]

In July 2011, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Walsh's ex-wife, Laura, was suing him for $117,437 for past due child support dating from 2005 for three of the children.[14] Walsh allegedly told his ex-wife that he did not have the money because he was out of work.[14][61] Walsh's attorney said that Walsh did not owe "anywhere near that amount," and that he had had no more problems paying child support than "any other average guy".[61] Walsh and his ex-wife were reportedly trying to work out a settlement of the disputed past due amount as of late July 2011.[14] Walsh's financial problems inspired the proposal of a bill which would forbid people owing more than $10,000 in back child support from running for office in Illinois.[62] On April 20, 2012, a judge dismissed the child-support dispute. In a joint statement Walsh and his ex-wife Laura stated, "Having resolved these issues together and cleared up these mistakes in private, we now agree that Joe is not and was not a 'deadbeat dad' and does not owe child support."[63]

In August 2011, the Chicago Tribune reported that Walsh lost his driving privileges from mid-April to mid-July 2011 because he let his insurance lapse. In response, Walsh criticized the Tribune for "wast[ing] time and ink scrutinizing [his] driving record over the last 22 years rather than Washington's unsustainable spending".[19]
