Since DUers, the people with whom I communicate on DU, know what Obama's title is I think I will continue refering to the man by his surname.

And I agree that whether it is Mr., Ms., Miss or Mrs., it properly reflects the president's personal status as citizen, apart from the office.

I'm happy as long as they avoid calling him "B.O." or "Barry". It's simple respect. He doesn't go by either.

Except when speaking like a Teabillie just to give it more authenticity.

They can't defeat the argument so they must defeat the man.

The irony is this:

The juxtaposition is nearly complete. Four years ago, the GOP wanted a referendum on President Obama the man. What they eventually acquired was a referendum on Romney. The proof lies in the approval ratings. Romney scores worse than almost any presidential candidate on record. It bears repeating and it is almost hysterical with irony.

More than anything, this election has become a referendum on Mitt Romney. The complete opposite of the well laid plans conceived by Frank Luntz at his secret dinner party with GOP leaders on President Obama's inauguration night. Lately, everything the neocons touch turns into a pile of steaming poo.

It is correct. It is not a distortion or a lie. It is not giving him a title to which he is not due. I think it is a good idea...

It's President Obama. I emailed our local news station too when one of the reporters just said Obama. I said please show him the respect he is due. He is the President.

When he is playing in the surf with his daughters he is Mr. Obama or even Barack Obama depending on the tone of the reportage.

I don't see any reason to do it any differently here.
