Trump, tweeting a Tucker Carlson segment, hints of possible pardon for Roger Stone

President Trump tweeted a clip from a Fox News segment early Thursday that suggested he is leaning toward pardoning confidant Roger Stone, who is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday for lying to Congress and witness tampering.

Tucker Carlson, along with other Fox News personalities, serves as an informal adviser to the president. While it was unclear whether Carlson knows something about Trump’s plans to which the public is not privy, or was again lobbying the president, the fact that Trump retweeted the clip suggests at least that he approves of the idea, which he claimed Tuesday he had not thought about.

“President Trump could end this travesty in an instant with a pardon, and there are indications tonight that he will do that,” the Fox News host said on his show Wednesday night, noting the series of pardons the president has already offered this week.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday, Trump posted a clip of the segment, which includes Carlson ridiculing the prosecutors involved with Stone’s case, as well as U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who is set to sentence the president’s longtime friend. Trump pinned the tweet, in which Carlson calls Stone’s case “a shocking insult to the American tradition of equal justice,” to the top of his account.

He ought to check with his old buddy Manafort, who has been waiting patiently for his pardon.

Trump cares about nobody. Well, he put Jared in charge of pardons now, so maybe he'll pardon Jared's dad (long out of prison). Otherwise, he'll just pardon random corrupt acquaintances and whoever Kim K begs for.

just hinted that pardoning Roger Stone would be another impeachable offense....sorry I didn’t copy the link.... might be due to this little technicality that puts a limit on the pardoning power in this particular instance... pardoning in furthering of a conspiracy that would involve and implicate the President himself.... same way you can’t claim lawyer client privilege in furtherance of a crime you and your lawyer are involved in together....my guess is that trump will try it anyway or he’ll commute Stones sentence rather than pardon him. No pesky guilty plea required then and being compelled to still testify about his crimes. https://www.justsecurity.org/62174/pardon-furthers-conspiracy-limits-pardon-power/

Unfortunately too many are willing to say forgive and forget...

Half of our candidates have already stated as much..
