Ryan Newman was turned into the outside wall on the last lap. His car hit the wall and flipped into the air, then slide on it's top and then was hit by another race car. It shows the dangers of racing. Newman was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries, but listed in serious condition and remains in the hospital.
I like racing and know this can happen. But part of me says "why"? Safety has become so much better over the years, given that! What are they doing to slow down this cars? At 200 mph and higher, a group of cars to together can cause havoc.
It is like politics! A group of people who are out of control can cause havoc for the rest of all, ie Trump and his band of goons!
I hope Ryan Newman is okay and recovers fully soon.

Wendell Scott's story is worth looking up. It's sad that the real achievements of a good man are unknown.

(7,499 posts)A recipe for disaster. Restrictor plate racing keeps the cars right on top of one another. You can't lift because with no throttle response you can't regain position. Cars are much better from a safety standpoint. but wreckin aint racing. The stage racing also bunches cars back up again and creates more chaos.
