I bet you didn't know that.
That's what a right-winger told me when I used snopes to refute her ridiculous birther email.
Quote: "Geroge Soros owns snopes...duh."
I sent a couple of paragraphs from wiki about snopes.
They told of the Mikkelson's starting of the website and also quoted FactCheck as saying they could detect no political bias there.
I told her I guees Soros owns wiki and FactCheck too.

(54,255 posts)From wiki:
"Between 1979 and 2011, Soros gave away over $8 billion to human rights, public health, and education causes. He played a significant role in the peaceful transition from communism to capitalism in Hungary (198489),[7] and provided Europe's largest higher education endowment to Central European University in Budapest.[9] Soros is also the chairman of the Open Society Institute."

Facts DO have a liberal bias...

(18,581 posts)It seems to be a RW "fact" that allows them to remain safely in the bubble.
They also claim anyone can edit Wikipedia to say what they want. I offered one RW friend $100 to edit any Wiki page he chose by the next day. I couldn't afford it, but I knew better.
Many people don't realize you can't edit Wikipedia until you've gained a certain level of trust.

(48,786 posts)The snopes.com web site is (and always has been) a completely independent, self-sufficient entity wholly owned by its operators, Barbara and David Mikkelson, and funded through advertising revenues. Neither the site nor its operators has ever received monies from (or been engaged in any business or editorial relationship with), any sponsor, investor, partner, political party, religious group, business organization, government agency, or any other outside group or organization.

(6,169 posts)I debunk her many hateful, teabagger emails by replying to all with links to Snopes and other fact-finding sites. I knew it was just a matter of time before they would start accusing the fact-finding sites of bias.

(5,946 posts)I am a thorn in this game players side, we really don't know each other, but play games together and keep a good attitude about disagreeing.
