My experience today made me very sad about the state of our country.

In Fort Worth today, I used Lyft four times. Four different drivers. Two AA women, one white man, one white woman.

I like to chat, so I engaged each driver, and asked them all them same question:

"Do you follow politics?" NOT ONE OF THEM SAID YES.

One of the women asked "Why, what is going on?"

The man said he was an IT guy, and Lyft was a second job, but I could tell from his tone of voice and the things he said told me he was a Conservative.

I thought when I finally got home, "This is really pathetic."

1. Maybe they just didn't want to talk about politics.

A lot of the time I'd rather not.

2. I've worked for tips and if I still was I would

definitely side step any question about politics now. Too easy to blow a tip.

3. It's almost always a bad idea to talk about politics

in a situation when you're doing business of any kind with a client or customer whom you don't know.

6. If you asked me that I'd play dumb too. I don't engage strangers about politics or race period.

And I'm an AA woman.

8. lol. They probably lied. But my lyft driver had not heard of the coronavirus

which I found kind of interesting... Might want to look into that with so many random travelers needing a ride from the airport!

9. This is our experience as well most everywhere we go in all of the

DFW Metro area. It is incredibly disheartening.

It has been this way for a very long time.

We've been involved since 2001 and it has only gotten worse, not better. It is very sad.

10. I always say I don't follow politics, if asked.

That's my way of saying I don't want to talk politics with "you". I've had enough experiences listening to people who think they're experts spout opinions I'm not interested in to know to avoid any conversation about politics with a stranger

11. No way would I take the bait of engaging

in a conversation about politics in this explosive political environment when part of my livelihood depended up the goodwill of people I'm ferrying around.
