No Change

The question being asked on political shows tonight is: Do you think any Republican senators’ minds have been changed by the proceedings?

Well, I can answer that question: No, no minds have been changed. The Republicans still know Trump is guilty, and they’re still going to acquit him anyway.

They knew he was guilty when they “read the transcript”, when they heard the details of Giuliani and Co.’s dealings in Ukraine, when Trump refused to allow his minions to testify, and when he refused to produce any documents.

They know he’s guilty – and they’ve known it for months. Some of them have known it a lot longer than that.

But most importantly, they knew it when they swore an oath to be fair and impartial jurors, who would weigh all evidence and base their verdict on the Constitution and the rule of law – just as they knew as they swore that oath that they had absolutely no intention of honouring it.

That’s where we are, folks. The “jury” is composed of those who had their minds made up long before the trial began, either because they fear what Trump will do to their political careers, or fear that their own corruption would be exposed if witnesses and documents were produced.

How does one begin to describe how low someone has to stoop in order to swear an oath to be impartial, knowing full well they will acquit a man they know to be guilty? How does one wrap their head around the idea that the survival of our democracy is in the hands of a political party that is corrupt to its very core?

For once in my loud-mouthed life, words fail me. There literally are no words in the English language that capture just how despicable the Republicans are, nor describe exactly how treasonous they have proudly proven themselves to be.

Words fail me as well.

I knew this was going to happen, yet had a small ray of hope for one honest man or woman in the GOP to stand up.

They sat and shat on America. Every single one of them betrayed this country and their constitutional oath.

I feel gut punched and having a hard time breathing.

I just don’t know how I can survive the heartbreak of watching our nation being destroyed with such enthusiasm by such creeps.

I love the House Managers so much for trying with such valor. and Adam Schiff, what a hero.

Honored their Constitutional Oath. Not one. Not one cares for the safety and well being of their very own children. Not one voted to save the planet or the world we once knew. Not one stood for America.

They are as traitorous as trump. I hope they all rot in hell.

A LART is a "Loser Attitude Readjustment Tool". We now need a TART -- Traitor Attitude Readjustment Tool.

(A TART can also be for Treasonous, but not all traitors are treasonous, as defined in the Constitution. A traitor pretends to be an ally while surreptitiously working against us).

I call them our "wretched refuse."

Not because they "yearn to breathe free," as in her stanzas, but rather because they would suppress freedom--because they knowingly, WILLINGLY betray the ideals they swore to uphold.

They believe they can ride the lies to victory.

But with McCarthy, it put them in the wilderness for over about 40 years. Is that where we are headed again?

will eat their young. Their scorched earth approach to governance / ruling will lead them down the path of the Whigs. Unfortunately many real Americans will suffer until the last vestiges of their poison disappear into the ether. Maybe it will take an angry mob of 10 million bearing pitchforks torches and rope.

16. Right as usual Nance. They have gotten a pass on calling it a "transcript." It's not.

It was selectively edited and is nowhere near a verbatim transcript. And yes, they are traitors to their oath and the American people. Sickening. I watched them sign their names at the onset of the "trial" and marveled how the GOP would all assert, pledge, swear on a mile high stack of Bibles, and then wink and smile, knowing the fix is in for the most miserable example of a human I have ever witnessed. And of course go to their prayer breakfasts and "church" to feel self-righteous and be absolved of everything they do that is so un-Christ-like, to make it all feel good. There is no fix for that.

Some are still upset at ELECTED Repukes. We need to be upset at ALL Repukes who still support him. We must remember that they have no interest in Democracies. They are deeply, deeply, deeply flawed, hate filled people who never should be let off the hook for what they supported in 2016 and what they continue to support. Trump is just a symptom of their disease.
