Jerry Nadler Storms The Senate And Accuses Republicans Of Treacherous Cover-Up For Trump

House impeachment manager Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) took the Senate by storm after midnight ET and accused Republicans of a treacherous cover-up for Trump.

Nadler said:

Will you vote to allow all of the relevant evidence to be presented here, or will you betray your pledge to be an impartial juror? Will you bring Ambassador Bolton here? Will you permit us to present you with the entire record of the presidentís misconduct, or will you instead choose to be complicit in the presidentís so far Iím sad to say I see a lot of senators voting for a cover-up, voting to deny witnesses, an absolutely indefensible vote, obviously a treacherous vote, a vote against an honest consideration of the evidence against the president, a vote against an honest trial, a vote against the United States.

A real trial, we know, has witnesses. We urge you to do your duty, permit a fair trial.
All trials have witnesses thatís elementary in American justice. Either you want the truth, and you must permit the witnesses, or you want a shameful cover-up. History will judge, and so will the electorate.

As the trial moved toward its 12th consecutive hour, because Mitch McConnell wonít postpone the votes until tomorrow, Jerry Nadlerís remarks were a jolt of caffeine wrapped in the American flag.

Nadler summed it up perfectly. Cynical Republican Senators think that they can speed through this trial, let Trump off of the hook, and voters will forget, but the voters are going to remember. Just like they remembered, the effort to kill Obamacare before the 2018 election.

Republicans never learn. The bill for this Trump cover-up will come due on Election Day in November.

1. They want to be aristocrats

Not subject to anything except those of higher rank. Trump is a wanna be king. Yes it is medieval.

11. Please lay out the details for how the election gets cancelled

We have much more pressing matters in the real world.

While a tampered, meddled-with election is a distinct possibility, a cancelled election is not going to happen.

22. Please provide details on exactly how it would happen

Otherwise youíre just blowing smoke.

There is no mechanism, short of altering the Constitution, for cancelling a Presidential election.

17. He wanted to have a both did it moment.

If he was an honest person, he would had snipped the WH counsel when they attacked both Schiff and Nadler way before.

18. He did win.

It was stolen. Statistical evidence of this strongly supported by academic research, as I recall.

7. 53 Enablers

53 Senators now inextricably part of the cover-up.
53 votes for kangaroo trial (apologies to kangaroos).
53 betrayals of the Oath they took.

On a brighter note, 47 Senators honored their Oath and truly served our country, our Constitution, and us. Thank you!

8. Remember Paterno?

His death date popped up on my "On This Day" program.

I thought of the fate of the G.O.P.

Paterno had my admiration as the greatest of all time and
then it happened. Before he died he lost it all. Went out
in shame. Became a nobody ... nothing.

Payback is hell.

14. Paterno deserves blame,

but he reported Sandusky to the higher ups. He died and the higher ups hired Freeh to lay all of the blame on JoPa.

Law enforcement also knew about Sandusky and Governor Corbett assigned a rookie to investigate Sandusky and all he gave him was a desk.

Paterno did more than Gym Jordan. tOSU never gets in trouble, why?

Michigan State covered up for a sexual predator and never got in trouble, why?

12. He dished back what they'd been dishing all day. John The Pirate Roberts thought it was all okay

until a Democratic leader pointed out what drives this scam representation of a criminal president.

Roberts is how we got here to this UN-deliberative body. Suddenly he-who-sits-in-judgment can't handle the appropriate give-and-take of this historical moment within a legislative chamber.

Voters will not forget. We won't let them.

15. Way too late for me, I had to bail around midnight. Every time I see him on the floor of the House..

...or chairing the Judiciary Committee, and last night on the floor of the Senate, I think to myself "he was pretty quiet in high school, not like that". We were high school classmates!!!

It was pushing 3am eastern time, when they wrapped.
