I worry that the impeachment is just the beginning of our troubles.

Once the Senate votes not to remove Trump he will see this as a carte blanche to do anything he wants to win the next election.
There will be virtually no chance of being impeached again before November so he will redouble his efforts to cheat and distort the election. He will be emboldened to solicit help from Putin and AG Barr can quash any investigations into this. Trump could force a win for himself in spite of a huge majority of voters who are against him.

If after all this he still loses, he will remain president for 2 1/2 months before the new president is sworn in. Because he's so vindictive I'm sure he will spend this time doing everything he can to sabotage the new administration. I'm not sure just what he would do but with his cadre of loyal, amoral advisors I'm sure they will brainstorm up some pretty awful scenarios.

One scary thought is that he could drop a nuclear bomb somewhere just before he leaves so the next president would have to immediately deal with the consequences before he even has a cabinet.

The only way out of this is for the Senate to remove him from office but then it would be nearly impossible for Republicans to get a viable candidate nominated and campaigning before November.
To remove him would mean defeat in the next election so there's a strong incentive for them to keep him in power.

So buckle up. If you think the roller coaster's been bad up to now just wait till the trial is over.

2. tRump is a narcissistic sociopath. He could give a damn about the country, the people or its future.

All he knows is revenge and winning. He will walk over the entire country to get what he feels he is entitled too. He is sleazy and crooked as hell. And has all his cohorts lined up. And, he doesn't give a damn about the constitution or how government is legally supposed to work. IMO, he's capable of any destruction to win in his eyes.

4. He's a shitshow whatever we do.

And as another poster already said, there's plenty of time to impeach him again and no shortage of counts that are rock solid, evidence-wise.

5. Impeachment at least slows him up

and at best will frighten him out of some of his worst plans.

15. Or

Or, he makes worse plans. More, expected, based on his behavior and narcissism.

21. It's better to act than not.

You don't let criminals walk because the jury likes them. I'd call that negligence.

There are plenty of other concerns, though, that do worry me.

8. so the real scary thought is that the monster

cheats himself to re-election. I'm sorry to say that with Putin's help I believe that it could happen.

states and by the widest margin.

11. At least it is something

An investigation would ensue and expose the cheating, but unless we get rid of Barr and make our Justice Department independent again they would block every effort and declare the opposite of what happened to be true.

13. Yep, the kink in our system currently is the judicial system being able to take their time ruling on

... issues for both sides.

The judicial system shouldn't be able to take 123423 months on something like McGhan, that allows presidents to commit all the crimes they want in the last couple of years of their reign and then stonewall.

14. I've said this on here several times before, but if Dems win the WH and Senate back & hold the House

Democratic senators should stay in DC on the DL for the lame duck session and then storm the senate for those proforma sessions that McConnell has - there will be a couple of R senators for a quorum and then Dems can force votes by majority - vote to convict, remove and ban from Office.

If NC Republicans can vote to override vetos when Democrats were at a 9/11 memorial, Democrats can return the favor and have votes when Republicans are sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner.

17. No matter what the trial outcome, we have

some very ugly, difficult times ahead.

If he is convicted, his base of militias and other belligerent folliwrrs will rebel in threstening actions and violence. Trunp er.al. would ignore the conviction.

But thst is very unlikely to happen.
If he is acquitted, he will take vengeance against individuals and regions via policies. We already know that he is vindictive, bigly. He will believe that he is invincible snd will act on that belief.

19. Impeachment

Actually, there is plenty of time to impeach tRump again. If he abuses his power again, he can be impeached for that. If he breaks the law again, he can be impeached for that.
Trump can't just push a button and send a nuclear weapon. Or any other missile. He has to give an order. An order to send a nuke won't be followed.
Yes, he will do evil things while waiting to leave the White House. IF they are illegal, he can be prosecuted once out of the White House. Am I worried? Yes. But, not as worried as you are.

I'm sure Donald has done much more wrong doing while in office, it hasn't come to light yet.
Who knows what goes on at at his golf coarse or hotel. No press allowed.

22. For one thing, he can drive his cart onto the greens at his own courses, and apparently does.

This ensures that he doesn't use up the last of his "lifetime allotment" of energy and exercise, which he must have nearly done by now.
