Because it also doubles as a docking probe.

23. Yes, it would make it even easier for Trump to put his head in his ass.

If he can get Sen Graham to move his lips out of the way.

3. Question: what is the purpose of camouflage clothing in space?

Answer: it panders to a nasty ludicrous man child.

21. Here:

But the new military service, overseen by the US Air Force, is not intended to put troops into orbit.

Rather, it will protect US assets such as the hundreds of satellites used for communication and surveillance.

US Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett said the Space Force would comprise about 16,000 air force and civilian personnel

7. Someday we will be laughing this one off

In the meantime, was it 45's idea, or the generals who put him up to it? Worse, someone signed off on it, and it wasn't just Trump.

11. More than likely the impetus was from space weapon makers trying to make themselves richer.

Who then got the support of the Pentagon military generals paving their way to lucrative post-military retirement jobs.
That's how the cycle works. Right?

15. Actually this has been in the works for a while

Funding began during the Obama Administration. Having some sort of a military plan for space makes sense but it just sounds so funny and coming from Trump it's downright hilarious

I pass Patrick AFB on my way to my son's high school. We have educated adults punting hard for this to be HQ for Space Force. And doing so with straight faces in great earnestness. Sigh.

They will need it when they go to war on Pandora against the Na'Vi to take all of the Unobtainium.

22. Camo is NOT camo, and this is NOT to ...

... impress the POTUS PUTZUS.

Many years ago I participated in a high level review of a military space system. The review was conducted by a senior level civil servant in the pentagon procurement division. His position was the civil equivalent of a brigadier general. Everyone treated him with the deference and formal decorum due to that rank in the military.

He wore a suit and tie.

The military personnel on the review panel dressed in some sort of "dress uniform". They looked sharp, like in a parade, not a combat zone.

The military sponsor of the space system, who was not a part of the review, came by to give us a an introduction and overview of the system. She was a brigadier general. And yes, she was a she.

The Brigadier General wore combat boots and camo overalls with a few velcroed on patches.

Obviously she was not trying to evade the enemy by blending into the conference room office environment. What she was doing was conveying a message: I'm a warfighter. I take that seriously. We are engaged in a serious, literally deadly serious activity. You are to take me and what we are doing seriously and to remember that you are, if only temporarily, warfighters also.

The military is a disciplined, hierarchical and extremely mission focused organization. There is an awareness of the importance of symbolism to that ethos, and the importance of clothing to that symbolism. Camo is NOT just camo. It says something. It says I am a warfighter and I take that very seriously. And it says l expect you to also.

26. You are correct, the uniform is pretty standard work clothes for all of our military, personally I

think the Navy should go back to their old uniforms but I get the general idea and am glad that you pointed this out.

I will say that I could go the rest of my life wearing the old Army OD green work uniform from the Vietnam era, man it was practical and comfortable.

This is the only photo of it I could find, but this is nice work clothes.

29. I would bet a days pay that Trumpy actually thinks a spacecraft can maneuver like a fighter plane

I mean, Iím betting he thinks that a space fighter ďplaneĒ can alter course like they do in Sci Fi movies.

I just have a feeling thatís how childish his understanding is.
