N.M. Lawmakers propose inscribing 'In God We Trust' on public buildings, license plates

A group of New Mexico state lawmakers is pushing to put the motto In God We Trust on all public buildings and all license plates. House Bill 115 is being proposed this legislative session by four Republican state representatives. David Gallegos of Lea County is one of them. If we can bring our national motto back into play, I think we start teaching people respect and just some pride in America, said Gallegos.

Gallegos believes putting the motto on public buildings, from schools to libraries and government offices, would bring the country together. Im hoping this will bring us back to America first, so were not as divided as we are right now, said Gallegos. Looks like anything we do right now is divisive, and this might be one thing we can all agree on.

Some Albuquerque residents had mixed opinions on the proposed bill:
Im in favor of it. Yeah, me too. I mean it should have been there all along, said Jessica Bustamante.
I dont believe its a good idea, said Peter Tichert. I think it encroaches upon the separation of church and state, and personally, I would be opposed to it.

Courts have rejected lawsuits that claim government use of the motto is a violation of church of state.

16. I think it's

"In God we trust because the cost of insurance is too high"

the same thing happened here in sunny Floriduh, and a lot of folks with that on their plates drive like shit, I mean really bad. It's about the same for the "Choose Life" plates, I don't think they're worried about my life, just the one in the womb.

7. Not only do I not trust god, I don't believe in god.

I don't want the U.S. to be a theocracy.

I am so sick of everything that is happening in this country.

Fuck Trump and his cult.

Fuck the evangelicals that support Trump.

Fuck all the spineless republicans that have watched our institutions constantly attacked and weakened.

Fuck all the spineless republicans for knowingly appointing unqualified judges.

Fuck Mitch McConnell.

Fuck Lindsey Graham.

Fuck the lies, the deceit, and the cover ups.

I hope the Supreme Court does not overturn Roe v. Wade.

I hope the attack on women's rights backfires on all these sick fucks.

10. I have often called attention to "The Bells of St. Mary's" to fanatic friends promoting

religion in schools as the solution to all the country's problems and ask them to pay particular attention to the children saying the "Pledge of Allegiance". Filmed in 1945, the "under god" part had not yet been added. That it was written by a Baptist Socialist is usually a huge surprise to them.

But what's a little gratuitous (*wink*) sanctimony when you can stick it to the libs?

15. In Florida people can optionally get that on their license plates, along

with other choices. Most people go for the "Sunshine State" option, a smaller number for the "County" option. Sunshine State seems to be the overwhelming choice.
