A manufacturing recession may already be under way in vulnerable swing states, challenging President Donald Trumpís campaign promise to deliver blue-collar jobs to his base.

Out of the 22 states with manufacturing job losses so far this year, some of those with the biggest percentage declines are states where Trump won by less than 5 percentage points, according to an NBC News analysis of the latest employment data, released last week. In Pennsylvania, the manufacturing sector lost 8,100 jobs. In North Carolina, it was 7,700, and Wisconsin lost 6,500 jobs.

Nine statesí economies are expected to slide into contraction within six months ó the most since the financial crisis ended more than a decade ago, according to the latest projections from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

West Virginiaís economy is forecast to shrink the most, while a decline in neighboring Pennsylvania is anticipated to be the most severe since May 2009 during the tail-end of the Great Recession, figures released this week show. A faltering economic outlook in coming months would likely cast a shadow over President Donald Trumpís re-election bid.

Delaware, Montana and Oklahoma are still expected to face shrinking economies in the next six months, as predicted in the analysis for the prior month. But the list of states was expanded to include contractions on the horizon for Vermont, New Jersey, Kentucky and Connecticut. The bank no longer expects Alaska to post negative growth.

The forecast puts the number of states at risk of slipping into contraction at the highest since July 2009, the data show.

1. We are in what is called the

slack season. The Trucking Industry seems to be shedding Jobs at the fastest rate in several years. Couple smaller operators announced today they are done. One closed today and another in ninety days due to State Law required timely notice.

Watching Indiana and the R/V Industry. That will be the lynch pin for the Rethugs. Have not heard or seen anything about their Layoffs. My guess is,the labor cuts will be dribs and drabs so no one notices.
