Do not misunderstand what the Million Moms movement is doing.

They protested because the Hallmark channel showed an ad that involved, gasp, a lesbian couple.

Now, they are protesting because a Burger King commercial included, please, no, the word damn.

This may sound trivial, and laughable, but it should be obvious what the intent of these protests is. And why they are appearing at this point.

A large part of the GOP messaging involves liberal elites, and how supposedly out of touch these liberal elites are.

The message here is that "regular working people" are against marriage equality, and against foul language. And against the supposed moral decadence of these liberal elites who seek to undermine American values.

Now you might point out to me that the leader of these moral culture warriors is a multiply married, serial adulterer who has paid off numerous porn stars and models, and paid for abortions as well.

And you might point out to me that this supposed leader is a lifelong crook whose business model revolves around fraud.

And I would agree with you, mainly because it is the truth.

But many Trump supporting FOX voters live in a place where lies can be called alternate facts.

1. They are an offshoot of American "Family" Association, of course they're anti-gay.

It's probably one of the people at AFA who runs the site.

2. Indeed.

But as I said, this is all part of demonizing liberals and showing the "moral majority" that the GOP is on their side.

3. funny, but I haven't noticed them protesting

that GOOP fragrance, "this smells like my vagina".

Pretty selective I think.

Then there's another offshoot of AFA trying to ban books used in highschool English classes because they deal with sexual situation, gay marriage, and the rest of actual life.

Given the opportunity and their first court win, they will target any type of diversity in our culture, and I don't think I'm being alarmist in that thought.

I couldn’t help but think that there was a social media message getting promulgated.

Sad.

9. As I've posted before, I was flabbergasted to learn that two of my AA neighbors support the dotard.

These are otherwise intelligent, wonderful people who were among the first to welcome me to the neighborhood.

I’ve no idea about their feelings on gay people, but I’m sure they know I am.

I was speechless when this came up in conversation some months ago.

But I got to know them before learning their political beliefs since that’s not something I ask about when I meet people.

I know they’re wonderful neighbors, watch my house when I’m out of town, are terrific parents, and even seem to help with a couple “wild” youngsters in the neighborhood.

And Trump, perhaps the most immoral man ever elected, leads this Party.

6. So the dial doesn't move at all

Very little is changing minds on either side right now. The lines are drawn and advocacy groups, no matter what side they’ve on, are spitting in the wind.

Just be glad our side is in the majority.

13. Yes, we are the majority.

But memes like "the moral majority", or "the silent majority", are crucial to convincing conservatives that they are, in fact, the majority.

10. My wife has told me that one of the things she noticed about me when we were dating...

... is that I never cussed.

That's possibly because my great grandmas would hit me hard if I did. Occasionally so would my mom and her parents.

Yep, got it. Cussing is bad, worse than hitting a child. But I knew that was bullshit even then. I also knew there were good reasons not to cuss.

Funny thing is my grandma could say the nastiest things imaginable to people when she was angry, or even just a little annoyed. But she didn't cuss, so that was supposed to be all right?

On the few occasions I did hear my grandma cuss it was like the gates of hell opening up.

These "Million Moms" live by a perverse law, the same law that twisted Mike Pence.

Of the many things I appreciate my parents for is their intellectual approach to religion. Me and my siblings suffered church and such, but we were never trained to suffer authority without reason.

I was raised to be polite, but I do make exceptions when dealing with Nazis, and members of recognized hate groups.

These million moms are promoting the idea of America under attack. And they voted for perhaps the most immoral President ever.

16. Million Moms is one broad

https://www.out.com/news/2019/12/17/one-million-moms-behind-hallmark-lesbian-ad-backlash-one-woman

According to the national LGBTQ+ nonprofit, One Million Moms does not, in fact, count millions of members among its ranks. Instead the name reportedly refers to just one right-wing activist: Monica Cole. In an op-ed published on GLAAD’s website, contributor Jeremy Hooper says Cole “is quite literally the only staff member [he has] ever heard anyone name.”

“She is the one and only person who appears on their petitions, as well as the one and only person who speaks for them to the media,” he writes. “She is the mom. Her. Solo. One person, supposedly representing one million.”

Truth has nothing to do with any conservative message. But calling this one person organization a million moms implies a broad base of support.

And she is undoubtedly hoping many right wing churches will promote this message of "American values under attack".

19. It may be helpful.

This reminds me of Christine O'Donnell's "Savior's Alliance for Lifting the Truth" (SALT). Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect foisted her onto the national spotlight during the Clinton impeachment in the late 1990s and present her "organization" as a real entity when in reality it was just her.

Their mere premise, existence, is to troll people and organizations who don't represent and worship the baby Jesus enough to their standards. But that said, they're very organized and effective trolls, and have the backing of big religion to support them. They only have 4,000 followers but as I said, it's the efficiency that counts.

Our goal is to stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.). Mom, OneMillionMoms.com is the most powerful tool you have to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at your children. 31. I believe

The beginning of these asinine groups started with the Kanawha County WV textbook controversy in 1974. Not only was it a chance for Alice Moore, the main player, to complain about “filth” in textbooks, she and her ilk managed to make people believe they were being told what to believe by the “elites”. Those nasty liberals weren’t going to tell them what to teach their kids!! Bombings, miners strikes, and the full public support of the KKK came out in force. It makes for fascinating reading. Books have been written about it. It was covered in the NYT and many other national papers. I think it planted the seeds for all the nonsense we’ve seen since.
