Trump is a Narcissist. This is a post for everyone still asking why he acts as he does.

He is not crazy or psychotic.

He rages, and when he does, he can seem to be, and really, might as well be.

Narcissists are completely aware of reality. They understand the words you are saying. They remember things just fine.

The problem isÖ they donít care. They donít care about reality. They donít think that the truth is important. They donít think that YOU should think that the truth is important.

When they rage, they are almost always angry about something that they cannot acknowledge or express. They must find a different reason for the rage that already exists, even if they have to make something up. Even if they have to blame their rage on you.

We are talking about an ego so overblown that it is literally pathological. Narcissistís egos are so inflated that they actually think that they have the right to declare what reality is, whether or not it is actually true. The universe revolves around them and exists only for them.

Why wouldnít they be able to tell you what is real with omnipotent authority? What right should actual facts have in denying what a narcissist declares the truth to be? Itís not a lie if the narcissist is telling it. He is re-writing reality because he wants to and he feels entitled to do so.

Not because he's crazy or psychotic.

7. Other people matter only as long as they are of use.

When the other person is no longer useful they get dumped and someone more useful takes their place.

Narcissists don't work on a vacuum. They need other people to provide narcissistic supply .

They can be really nice if they need you. They can be really awful if you don't do their bidding.

4. I can attest to this from personal experience

"But what you're saying isn't true."
"It's MY truth."
And that's the end of it. An acknowledgement that an alternate truth is the one that matters. Objective reality is irrelevant.

12. Same - it's impossible to prove anything to them.

Their truth is the only truth.

6. the late Charles Krauthammer from about 3 1/2 years ago

summer of 2016 - he was one of the original never Trumpers, and also had a PhD in Psychology from Harvard - my bolding below

This is beyond narcissism. I used to think Trump was an 11-year-old, an undeveloped schoolyard bully. I was off by about 10 years. His needs are more primitive, an infantile hunger for approval and praise, a craving that can never be satisfied. He lives in a cocoon of solipsism where the world outside himself has value ó indeed exists ó only insofar as it sustains and inflates him.

16. Never really agreed with him on much, but this is spot on.

Trump is pure id. He has not matured past an infantile state of need and want. He has never grown up and he now finds himself frustrated in a role that demands maturity and adult competence.

Things of which he is incapable of demonstrating and he has been throwing a temper tantrum for the past three years.

He will never admit that he is out of his depth, instead he will blame everyone and everything for his abysmal failure at the job. And the entire world will be the target of his misguided rage. He will make us all pay for his own inability to measure up.

17. On politics

I agree with almost nothing from Krauthammer, but he had Trump nailed from the time he entered the race.

10. Anyone who has had a personal relationship with a narcissist will agree with you.

They're not crazy, but they're very good at making YOU crazy unless you learn the signs of narcissistic personality disorder. Once you learn them, you'll do yourself a favor and get as far away from them as possible before they destroy your sense of self.

This guy is a textbook case.

15. Our problem - we can't get away from him.

I was able to walk away from my narcissist and end the relationship when I realized he would destroy me if I stayed. We can't do that and I hate it.
