(4,305 posts)The ones in this country. Most of the silos have been decommissioned but we still have active bases for our protection in cases of war. I believe there are still several that have the capabilities now.
MontanaMama
(23,313 posts)Theres a crap ton of those silos between Missoula and Great Falls. I dont know how many are active or not. They all have personnel onsite when you drive by them... and those are just the ones you see from the highway. Conventional wisdom says were safe. But these are not normal times.
GemDigger
(4,305 posts)I can't find the article right now but I think that half were taken out of commission and the other half and the rest went through some heavy upgrades. I know that they spent a small fortune on the base.

(51,308 posts)I wish I had a buck for every post about DUers being afraid to place a bumper sticker on their car, for every post about how they somehow changed a TV set in an oil change location, how they moved a book at a bookstore.
And of course, there was the great safety pin resistance movement of 2017.

(63,840 posts)Democratic Underground it will be lovely to be with you all. You know in the years of Bush and his Iraq War, I met up in DC with other Randi Rhodes posters during that time I think she was on Air America. It was something we all marched together.
We met at a hotel lounge and we introduced ourselves by our user names, it was really great.

(90,662 posts)...while the nation was still voting. The Admins are pros; they were prepared for high traffic and I don't know what-all. But this was special and somehow personal, and it took a good two weeks to repair the site and get it back online.
But the FB connection stayed open.

I dont believe that you have to have an account to view these sites.
Theyre a lifeline if regular DU goes down.
