My 1st 3D Painting Experiment

Materials & techniques used linked at Twitter.

Just experimenting. If anyone is interested in a new hobby, I can save you a $$bundle after my year long fluid art (Acrylic Pouring) learning curve.

Also how to set up and not destroy anything in your home ☺️

Any tips from real artists always appreciated.

1. This looks like fun.

I've been experimenting with alcohol ink painting...it has a similar look to this but is more transparent. Are these acrylics water soluble?

4. Yes. Very washable.

I call it “Dancing With Paint”

I crank the tunes and let go of any idea if the outcome. Trying to learn “when to stop” ☺️

8. Do you get your paint online?

You've got me wanting to look into this. I love the gold you've got going throughout.

10. This is an inexpensive paint. Brand Artists Loft

I use Michaels’ 40% off coupons. So about $6 for quart. But I Mix it with Floetrol $15 gallon at Home Depot. So a quart of paint makes 3 quarts. I tried gallons once but won’t again. Got lumpy over time.

I started with small 8 x 10 cheap canvasses, watched many many hours of YouTube videos & experimented. Wasted gallons of paint but small price for the sheer transcendent escapism into Whatever that space is called when all else disappears.

After trying a ton of different approaches by YouTube artists, I think I prefer this more controlled, organic & hopefully 3D appearance.

Have you watched any of the YouTube videos? If not I’ll send some links to my favorites artists.

Lastly, I’ve played with top line paints and don’t think their price is worth it for this style.

13. I bookmarked some YouTube vids to watch

later tonight. From the little I saw, these paints behave a bit like alcohol inks. I’m excited to learn something new. Thanks for your OP. Your work is beautiful...I enjoyed your other pieces on your twitter feed.

5. Thank you so much.

“Seeing” your own art may be like looking in the mirror. Not sure if we see the same thing 😂😂😂
