The Impeachment Time Bomb
December 20, 2019 at 10:40 pm EST By Taegan Goddard

Carl Bernstein on CNN:

“There are Republicans who have a feeling that this impeachment process thus far… represents a time bomb, that this is not over, None of us knows where this is going. The impact of this continues into the election, into the campaign, and there is a tremendous amount of information out there that journalists are working on, that we do not know about yet.”

“The Ukraine allegations and the clues provided by what occurred are a road map for all kinds of investigators in the coming months. And I believe — and I’ve talked to some people — that there are people in the Senate who understand that this might be a time bomb. That there is time remaining until the election. Obviously, to the trial, too. I’m not saying that necessarily it is going to be a time bomb that explodes, but I think there’s a real possibility of it…”

1. A better metaphor may be the Speaker big pic strategy chart, which reaches beyond

November, - and the number of active Dem important players on that chart.

[In Pelosi's own words, she is 'not surprised'].

3. Trump will have the entire Christmas break to stew over how many more of his crimes will be revealed

As well as the humiliation and stain of being impeached. Given he has been a one-man crime wave since taking office, there is much more that could be revealed/ investigated. Trump is not mentally stable and his penchant for revenge puts our entire country at risk. Not just Republicans should be worried.

in and out of Congress following in the wake of his crime wave. That might be the real time bomb. Both the extent of the crimes and the extent of the people involved.

13. We can thank Trump for one thing

He has revealed the extent of the rot and corruption that fully permeates the Republican Party for the entire world to see. They have lost all moral authority, permanently and have become lowly vassals to Vladimir Putin. We can’t vote every single one of them out of office soon enough. This is a party that needs to disappear like the Whigs.

That is huge. It is essential to recognize that this is a process, and as such, the dynamics are fluid. You nailed one of the most important parts!

Thank you.

4. I believe that one of the reasons the rethugs want to expedite this process

is because the know that it's only a matter of time (and not much of it!) before tRump does something as egregiously illegal and outrageous as he has been emphatically exposed and impeached for (and the know the list of Articles could have a lot longer). They, as Pelosi has said, know that "tRump is self-impeaching" on virtually a daily basis. They want to get this over with so they can trumpet out the clarion call tRump exonerated! Of course, they realize with this clown car cavalcade of exploding missteps, that he'll just continue doing what he's been doing his entire execrable existence, but I think they hope (with bated breath) that he won't be exposed before the election. The more he does what he does, the closer the election looms and to try to excuse and explain the behavior becomes increasingly more challenging for them to morally and logically defend.

There's much more to learn, and we'll learn a lot as investigations in the House continue. The 2018 election enabled Democrats to look into things that the Republicans ignored.

May the search continue.

12. unless dr fiona hill is an idiot putin has been using talk radio and media must follow the leads

like asking sam nunberg about when he "listened to 1000s of hours of talk radio" for trump in 2014 - the same year a russian troll says they "got a list of topics to write about" - the collusion goes on right under their noses

lmbaugh not supporting mccain till he picked palin, timed to within minutes of the announcement. manafort was mccain's co chair and palin was being wooed by the russians re oil and gas.

2009 - lmbaugh dedicated a week to creating climategate from a russiaan hack. they used weikileaks. palin, trump, and corsi all stuck their heads into that - who prompted them for that

was the teabag movement aa russian social media event (anti GOP establishment)

in 2011 lmbaugh led weeks of push to default on debt - would US billionares want that?

at $1000/hr 1200 radio stations x 15 hrs/day are worth about $5BIL/year FREE to push global warming denial, division, racism, fascism - why wouldnt putin get into that?

the evidence is there - fuck the media for not following it
