She will be 70 years old. To be sure there have been plenty of other world leaders who were also septuagenarians, notable among them, Golda Meir.
I guess what grabs me is the obsession by some with Hillary Clinton. Get past it, people, especially YOU, Mr. Matthews. Really. For you, this may require some time with a competent shrink.
I would vote for her in a heartbeat. I would welcome her and her First Spouse back to DC enthusiastically.
But as easily as I could vote for her, so could I vote for any one of our inspiring rising stars.
Note to the media: You're covering a party's nominating convention, but those of you acting like "correspondents" for Entertainment Tonight ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
And you, Matthews . . . you're a very special kind of obsessive personality. The Clinton's didn't like you then and they probably still don't. Does Kathleen know you harbor these obsessive fantasies? Why don't you and your palm get a room and leave us out of your verbal masturbatory manifestations.

They'll both be in the primary anyway.

(62,444 posts)As you said, I wouldn't rule out a 70 year old president, but I wasn't thrilled with the last one.
I think the Varican finally imposed an age limit of 70.
Do I have something against older people? No.
But we have 320 million or so people in this country to choose from, and we'll get to 2016 when we get there.
Actuarial facts are what they are, and it is not "discriminatory" to state, as a fact, that the odds of a person living from, say, age 50 to age 54 is substantially higher than the odds of a person living from 70 to 74.

(37,648 posts)It's harmless, although it IS detracting from the one who's running THIS year.

(19,768 posts)Chris and other correspondents and talking heads talk of Hillary in part to hold and grow an audience. Even people who hate Hillary are fascinated by her.
But she would win if she ran. She'd certainly have my vote.

I love Hillary and would vote for her in a heartbeat, but she's tired... I don't think she'll even run in 2016.

(31,941 posts)But I think she will be too old to run. Same with Biden. We have some young governors who would make fine candidates.

(3,621 posts)I don't want 3rd way rail crap in the Democratic Party. I don't want DLC stuff. I don't want "Corporatism" stuff, neither.
I hope for better progressive democratic candidates for 2016. Someone like Bernie Sanders.
