Hillary Clinton Gets a Docuseries on Hulu

Hulu has released the teaser trailer for Hillary, an original four-part docuseries exploring the life of former Secretary of State, former First Lady and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. The series will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this January and will be released on Hulu on March 6th.

Directed by Nanette Burstein, Hillary features interviews with the former candidate as well as Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, various former aids and staff, journalists and close friends of the family. It will also feature never-before-seen campaign footage from 2016, before Clinton lost the presidential election to President Donald Trump.

“Executive produced by Burstein, Howard T. Owens and Ben Silverman for Propagate, the series gives viewers an up-close view of the woman who has permeated American culture for more than 30 years and her historic presidential run,” the synopsis reads.

Hillary is the latest in feature-length documentaries and docuseries produced for Hulu, following the critically lauded Minding the Gap and Ask Dr. Ruth.

Hillary will premiere at Sundance before being released on streaming platform March 6th

9. Except for Rachel... we are sooooo close to being 100% cord-cutters.

Well... there's that AND the fact that the AMC app requires periodic logins through a cable/satellite provider. (I think their app is subsidized by cable providers and that's the quid-pro-quo.)

But aside from that... we're almost 100% streaming now.

13. However...

... even though we're working toward being cord-cutters, it's not entirely FREE. We subscribe to HBO's app, Showtime's app, AMC, Hulu, CBS All Access, and Britbox (there may be one more).

So... having quality TV isn't completely free, but we DO only pay for what we want to pay for. AND (the best part) is that we were able to get the bare-bones cable TV package + our various add-on costs for app subscriptions... AND IT'S STILL CHEAPER THAN THE "EVERYTHING" PACKAGE WE HAD BEFORE.

We still use the DVR feature for Rachel (delayed start so we can FF through commercials) but since everything else is on-demand, there's really no need for the DVR like we did before.

I'm a total Luddite for how the tech works and hooking it up... but I can operate it just fine.

PS: Kicking this thread with an OT sidebar conversation is okay, right?

30. Haha, yes it's fine!

How about Netflix and Amazon Prime. We watch those two all the time. We'll probably subscribe Disney+ in the near future too.

We still haven't given up cable all together because there are some live shows and events (especially sports) that we just can't give up.

32. Yep... I don't know why I didn't include them in my list.

Yep... I don't know why I didn't include them in my list. I guess it's because for the longest time those were the ONLY two paid streaming services we used, and it's just assumed that if someone is a cord-cutter then Netflix and Amazon Prime are how they got started.

We still haven't given up cable all together because there are some live shows and events (especially sports) that we just can't give up.
I totally understand. Sports events wasn't a big consideration in our gradual move away from cable/satellite. HOWEVER, I've noticed that our CBS All Access subscription is now featuring a LOT of football games on the main menu and title-cards. (We opted for the "no-commercials" version of CBS and AMC... totally worth it.)

The next Roku app that we're considering subscribing to is called "Locast" (it's free with nag screens and an eventual time-out) but we've been giving it a good workout and may end up registering for the $5 monthly cost.

Depending on where you live, however, Locast may not be a decent option (or it may not work for you at all). It is "locked" and restricted to several different metro areas. Fortunately DC is one of the areas that is included in their options... but when we recommended this to my brother-in-law, who lives near Charlotte, he could not use it because his hometown isn't yet part of their package. (He tried to choose the nearest city, Atlanta, instead... but that didn't work either. Apparently they can tell the approximate location based on the incoming internet connection address or provider.)

Locast looks interesting but unfortunately isn't in any cities out west yet. But I'll keep my eye out for it in the future.

39. Hulu offers the 1st month free, then $5.99/month after that

I think it's well worth it for shows we like. After the documentary series airs, maybe it will available in other formats too.
