G.O.P. Tactic on Impeachment: Turn Ukraine Allegations Against Biden

President Trumpís re-election campaign has run menacing and misleading ads this fall accusing Joseph R. Biden Jr. of corrupt dealings with Ukraine. Republicans in Congress are scrutinizing Mr. Bidenís son, pressing the State and Treasury Departments for information about his work for a Ukrainian energy company. The president himself has unleashed a stream of unfounded accusations against the Bidens and pushed for them to appear at a potential impeachment trial in the Senate.

As Mr. Trump faces impeachment for allegedly pressuring Ukraine to investigate Mr. Biden, he and his allies are now turning those same claims about Mr. Biden and his son into a key element of their defense. And they plan to continue to hammer at the Bidensí Ukraine dealings as impeachment proceedings move into the new year.

There is no evidence that the elder Mr. Biden, while serving as vice president, improperly intervened in Ukraine to benefit his son. But the presidentís advisers are betting that many voters will ignore the complexities of the allegations and absorb a simple message about a father using his influence to help his son, a senior Trump campaign official said.

The barrage of attacks is the latest example of Mr. Trumpís monthslong fixation with Mr. Biden, who leads the Democratic field in national polling and has bested the president in head-to-head surveys in several key battleground states. Mr. Biden and many independent experts have called the allegations of corruption false, and Mr. Bidenís campaign insists that they demonstrate how worried the president is about facing him in a general election.

1. Typical tRump behavior: project your bad conduct on others and lie as often as possible.

Will the Ds use this opportunity to lambaste tRump for giving his asshole kids jobs in his administration, and of profiting off the same? We know the media wonít bother.

7. Not just tRump. Typical GOP behavior ... and has been

for quite some time. Look at what they did to both Bill and Hillary Clinton, not to mention Obama throughout his presidency. They have always projected and ruthlessly used false charges to effectively taint public opinion of key Democratic Party figures. And it has worked which tells me thereís no guarantee it wonít this time as well. And donít forget what they did to Dukakis and Kerry.

These are fascists no different than the Nazis.

4. Joe and Hunter Biden

should offer to testify under oath before the impeachment hearing if......Trump and Giuliani will do the same.
How could Trump complain about that being unfair?

8. Trump would admit

to five felonies in the first five minutes of his testimony, and commit perjury (remember he has never been under oath in this process) six times.

9. Doesn't that just prove Trump's interest in forcing Ukraine to investigate Biden was political?

11. This is why John Dean's advice should be seriously considered:

Letís impeach him now and NOT send it to the Senate rather keep investigating in the House, and add such supplemental articles as needed! Just let it hang over his head. If the worst happens and he is re-elected, send it to the Senate. But keep investigating!!

Basically, this would prevent the GOP from re-writing the history of this impeachment and obscuring the gravity of it before the election.
