White House Throws A Tantrum Over Devastating Impeachment Report

White House Throws A Tantrum Over Devastating Impeachment Report

The White House responded to a report that laid out hundreds of pages of evidence against Donald Trump by throwing a tantrum about Adam Schiff.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, ďAt the end of a one-sided sham process, Chairman Schiff and the Democrats utterly failed to produce any evidence of wrongdoing by President Trump. This report reflects nothing more than their frustrations. Chairman Schiffís report reads like the ramblings of a basement blogger straining to prove something when there is evidence of nothing.Ē

Anyone who reads even a few pages of the report will quickly understand that it is not the ramblings of a ďbasement blogger,Ē but a thoroughly complied and extremely detailed case that Donald Trump committed several impeachable offenses while he was running his months-long scheme to extort Ukraine into investigating Joe Biden and a debunked Russian propaganda conspiracy theory.

The only rambling basement blogger in this situation is Donald Trump on Twitter.

The decision by the administration to continue to attack Adam Schiff tells the American people all that they need to know about Trumpís guilt.

The White House wonít produce witnesses or documents, and nowhere in the Press Secretaryís statement is there any dispute about the facts.

Impeachment is about Donald Trump, not Adam Schiff, and the administrationís reaction to this report is evidence of Trumpís guilt.

5. pages? 4 paragraphs do it ...

The investigation revealed the nature and extent of the Presidentís misconduct, notwithstanding an unprecedented campaign of obstruction by the President and his Administration to prevent the Committees from obtaining documentary evidence and testimony. A dozen witnesses followed President Trumpís orders, defying voluntary requests and lawful subpoenas, and refusing to testify. The White House, Department of State, Department of Defense, Office of Management and Budget, and Department of Energy refused to produce a single document in response to our subpoenas.

Ultimately, this sweeping effort to stonewall the House of Representativesí ďsole Power of ImpeachmentĒ under the Constitution failed because witnesses courageously came forward and testified in response to lawful process. The report that follows was only possible because of their sense of duty and devotion to their country and its Constitution.

Nevertheless, there remain unanswered questions, and our investigation must continue, even as we transmit our report to the Judiciary Committee. Given the proximate threat of further presidential attempts to solicit foreign interference in our next election, we cannot wait to make a referral until our efforts to obtain additional testimony and documents wind their way through the courts. The evidence of the Presidentís misconduct is overwhelming, and so too is the evidence of his obstruction of Congress. Indeed, it would be hard to imagine a stronger or more complete case of obstruction than that demonstrated by the President since the inquiry began.

The damage the President has done to our relationship with a key strategic partner will be remedied over time, and Ukraine continues to enjoy strong bipartisan support in Congress. But the damage to our system of checks and balances, and to the balance of power within our three branches of government, will be long-lasting and potentially irrevocable if the Presidentís ability to stonewall Congress goes unchecked. Any future President will feel empowered to resist an investigation into their own wrongdoing, malfeasance, or corruption, and the result will be a nation at far greater risk of all three.

14. Exactly this.

Half the population will forever believe that this whole impeachment investigation was nothing but a political ploy.

Think it's hard to disspell the myths about the Holocaust? Pity the generations ahead who have to battle against Trump corruption deniers (while dealing with the fallout from global warming, AI joblessness and the rest of the happy little time bombs we've left for them...but that's a whole 'nuther conversation).

It's a third, with a little more (another 5-10%) either "skeptical" and blaming "both sides", or worse, knowing that everything in that report is true, but dismissing it because the ends justify the means.

Par for the course with this bunch, really.

With their borderline unhealthy aversion to truth/facts, chances are better than average that they STILL haven't read the report. Even now.

44. IMNSHO, it think it is all the focus on STEM and teaching to a test and not assigning

a novel for kids to read and do a book report on. I'm not talking "War and Peace," just grade appropriate novels. There is absolutely no reason a kids can't read a book a quarter. Everything does not have to be a textbook.

Novels teach ethics, morals, and opposing viewpoints that, in most cases, kids would not hear or come across unless through reading a novel. Also, parents become aware of novels their children's required reading and they, too, learn ethics, morals, and other viewpoints. Or they storm the libraries to pull the novels they do not "agree" with, making those novels get checked out of the library.

JK Rowling saved novels for the next generation or two, but i understand that Scholastic and other publishers are hunting high and low for the next Harry Potter. No author/character has broken through, yet, for this generation.

I've read comments on Harry Potter being so millennial, but tell me that kids didn't learn that it's okay to quibble with your friends and still remain friends, loyalty, courage, puberty, things don't always go your way, etc. Joann brought it all.

Pendejo45's Press Secretary didn't deny that all this didn't happen,
they only complained about Adam Schiff and the process.

If you don't understand what that is, look up the movie "All The President's Men"
Here is the scene with the explanation.

33. Normally,

Normally, a statement from OUR White House would be considered important and relevant. It would be expected to be based on something factual and reflect a much higher level of standards, intelligence and even honor.

Even if we didn't particularly like the Administration, or completely disagreed with the statement, we could still interact and respond with some level of understanding and mutuality.

I have to say that this current Administration has lost its credibility completely now. It's responses are hardly worthy of being news and the POTUS and his sycophants have lost all credibility and worth. I can no longer even entertain what is being generated as an official representation of the United States Government at this point, so I give a vote of NO CONFIDENCE!!!!!!!

This is like having a fake White House in a bad movie, but it is certainly no example of governing or a fulfillment of the oath of office or the honor and duties that accompany it.

That's my official statement on the matter.

34. they attack the process...

...because they can't dispute the facts...

...if republicans want to permanently damage our Constitution, our democracy and the rule of law, let them have at it...

...make every republican Senator take a historical stand, defend a decision to acquit, to God, family and country then let's see what we have at the end of it...

...but to do nothing will damage the Constitution, politics and democratic landscape by establishing a new set of unacceptable rules of conduct and behavior for a president...

...like it or not, even with conviction, trump has fundamentally altered our country and democracy unless we can rewind to the pre-trump era which doesn't seem likely...

...we must now restructure and retool to win aggressively and decisively in the wake of unprecedented republican damage...

...May God Bless America...
