I would love to see some analytics to this question. Clearly there is plenty of material. My hypothesis is that many of Trump supporters live in a echo chamber of right wing media and social circles. So if they are exposed to a high volume of negative ads, a small percentage can be persuaded. The overall needle will likely only move a few points but Dems can be on offense forcing the GOP to play defense. By just having a large of cache of material and staying on offense maybe all we need to secure a win. Added bonus, Trump's rural base is much cheaper to reach then his need to reach urban/suburban.
It would be great if the DNC ran a test media campaign in a rural Trump area to test effectiveness.

(72,083 posts)i am sure there could be an ad that would break through, but it would take some real experts in propaganda and psychology to make it.
i saw a vid the other day by a guy who escaped scientology who said that when he began learning about science, and scientific method and he started applying it to what he had been brainwashed to believe, the wall started to crack.
i have a trumpkin in my life, and i have been trying to take this tack w him.
he is smart and educated, but doesnt have a science background. i very much do. so i take time to bat down his old wives tales whenever i can. i can see a little glimmer of faith growing there.
i'm purposely not trying to break it down around you know who.
but if i can get his trust, which is something he doesnt do easily, i have hope for this one. he might be the only one, tho.

trump is SO bad that the truth seems over the top negative.

trump is a clown but he's great at framing the narrative and running against the establishment. That's his best asset.

(761 posts)both unexplainable and compels people to like him. I maintained that he didnt want to be president but that particular kind of charisma thrust him into office. He literally campaigned to lose but nothing he did would shake those people affected by his charisma. He is guaranteed a solid base. Election depends on manipulating a small number of voters. Attack ads may alert people that can be affected by his charisma. There are many shortfalls that can be campaigned. No attack ad to date has affected his support. Better to educate voters to what can be and totally ignore Trump.
