Report: US lacked technology to track separated families
By ASTRID GALVAN, Associated Press Nov. 27, 2019 Link: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/texas/article/Report-US-lacked-technology-to-track-separated-14867320.php (snips) PHOENIX (AP) — The U.S. government separated thousands of families despite knowing it lacked the technology to document and track their whereabouts, according to a report released Wednesday by an internal government watchdog.
The problem resulted in some parents languishing in custody for weeks without knowing the location of their children. The report by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General found the agency lacked proper systems when Border Patrol agents took children from parents set to be criminally prosecuted for illegal entry. Every politician, agent and official that participated in this crime against humanity should have to spend the entire rest of their lives making direct amends for this horrible action. That includes Miller and tRump. KY......... ![]()

1. The government needs to have a computer that's powerful enough to match A and B
Maybe something that can run Microsoft Excel

2. Maybe they haven't heard of these new-fangled cutting-edge programs, or
all their computing power is occupied tracking Trump's lies.

3. Exactly what I was thinking.
What kind of technology do you need? A legal pad and a pen could do it. But there's also something called a database, or even a spreadsheet.

6. I agree. The Nazis used IBM punch cards FHS!
Any logistics professionals & computer scientists know this is a bogus claim. However, creating excused raises the question of nefarious intentions.
We must keep a Dem Representatives majority to investigate. |

4. This is bullshit - this administration never planned on reuniting those families
In these days with RFID and microchips that can track merchandise and pets, to claim the government cannot do this job is ridiculous. All they had to do was to NOT separate families if the KNEW they could never put them back together.
They have the technology to put chips into bracelets - bracelets that could also have tracking numbers to tie people together. A simple two tier way to link parents to their children. One of their cronies would have been happy to manufacture those for the government. ***HELL - there is already that technology being manufactured! Simply put, Buddy Tag is a child safety device that helps parents keep their precious children safe. It has an out-of-range alert to help prevent losing your child; a water safety alert to help prevent accidental drowning; a panic alarm for your child to alert you when in a threatening situation; and a personal ID to help reunite a lost child with their parents. Buddy Tag uses Bluetooth so it doesn’t have monthly fees.
https://mybuddytag.com/pages/faq They just did not care enough to bother. |

7. Yeah, blame "technology"
They could have tracked people with 3X5 file cards if the wanted to. They had all the technology they needed at their disposal: what they really lacked was any desire to monitor and CARE FOR the children once they ripped them from their parents.
