Trump's approval is now exactly where it was when he was inaugurated.

January 26, 2017: 44.3% approval. Now 44.3% Assume he will get a boost when the impeachment is voted down by the Senate, and we are f****d.

1. He won't get a boost or a drop. His numbers have been pretty stable, which means

we are hopelessly polarized and dug in and there are very few truly undecided people out there. In terms of the 2020 election that means that we MUST win the enthusiasm battle and find NEW voters. Same thing they're doing on their side.

2. agree to a point

Impeachment will probably not hurt him. That said, I fear we don't have that generational candidate ( Bill Clinton or Obama) that can't just kill it on the campaign trail and unite party. I feel only Biden stand a a chance. Florida is the key really. If not, it's an uphill battle.

3. I.ll wait to 11/20 to see what the public's approval of trump is. Hell, he may not even run -

I suspect that dam has cracked and there will be a future point where it fails. In the meantime, I doubt we'll unearth any Trump exculpatory evidence (not manufactured). But I do think we will see even more damning evidence of the Trump/GOP/Putin co-conspiracy. Stay tuned!

4. The polls show that his supporters don't care what he does. It doesn't matter how evil or corrupt

he is, they think it is worth supporting it over what they have been brainwashed into believing the Democratic Party is.

5. Fintan O'Toole on fascism & that 40%.

Fintan O’Toole: Trial runs for fascism are in full flow
Babies in cages were no ‘mistake’ by Trump but test-marketing for barbarism

Fascism doesn’t arise suddenly in an existing democracy. It is not easy to get people to give up their ideas of freedom and civility. You have to do trial runs that, if they are done well, serve two purposes. They get people used to something they may initially recoil from; and they allow you to refine and calibrate. This is what is happening now and we would be fools not to see it.

One of the basic tools of fascism is the rigging of elections – we’ve seen that trialled in the election of Trump, in the Brexit referendum and (less successfully) in the French presidential elections. Another is the generation of tribal identities, the division of society into mutually exclusive polarities. Fascism does not need a majority – it typically comes to power with about 40 per cent support and then uses control and intimidation to consolidate that power. So it doesn’t matter if most people hate you, as long as your 40 per cent is fanatically committed. That’s been tested out too. And fascism of course needs a propaganda machine so effective that it creates for its followers a universe of “alternative facts” impervious to unwanted realities. Again, the testing for this is very far advanced.

7. Wow, never connected this to a fascist take-over, but this makes a lot of sense.

I do feel like we are at a momentous point in our Country's history. It's going to resolve, one way or another.

8. I feel that if we don't win the next election, America is lost to fascism forever. How can we ever

get it back from a full-blown take-over of over 40% of the nation, the media, the judiciary, our lawmakers and the president?

9. The 60% need to tell the truth. It's pretty simple - challenge them at every point in every social

conversation. We can win this war by communicating the truth whenever it is challenged.
