Throw everyone under the bus except Trump. Smart strategy to save his own hide.

4 choices

Sondland
Giuliani
Bolton
Trump

Of those 4, Sondland is the one with the least power to do so. Giuliani will flip on everyone if they try to pin it on him, Bolton has been shown with his hair on fire screaming that the aid needed to be released (nothing gets in the way of a good war for him), and then there is Trump who is president, where the buck should stop.

Sure the Republicans will spin it as Trump not having done anything, but the public won't buy it (other than Trumpers who already believe in their Baal).

the only thing that matters is what the Senate R's think as far as impeachment goes...I'm pretty sure they don't give a rat's ass about what the public thinks.

Republicans simply do not have the numbers to win fairly in an election. This is why they invested so heavily in gerrymandering (I know this only works for the House), voter depression and suppression. That is why they accepted Russian disinformation. They don't have the numbers.

What they NEED to do to stay in office is to keep Democrats and others at home on election day. If Trump keeps getting hammered and it is looking like he is guilty as sin, the Republicans can go down with the ship.

I agree with your assessment that they do not care about the public, even a little bit, however, if Democrats can keep turning this into a major issue and enough people can be woken up, they may not have a choice.

layed out his exposure from his initial testimony and coached him up on what he had to say to get out from under that.

But, past that, he is perfectly fine with 45 and republican fuck wittery.
