1. I don't know about anyone else but I would pay to see Tom Hanks if he just read from the phonebook

He's one of the few actors whose movies I will go to see no matter what it's about. He makes everything he's in worth the two hours.

So, maybe yes, because Tom Hanks is in it ...

14. Me too. I actually think that movie may be a welcome balm to the psyche

I adore Hanks and the chance to escape the stress of Trumpworld is a welcome one

2. I've seen previews for that movie,

and for me, all I can see is Tom Hanks. He's an amazing actor, but he's still Tom Hanks, not Fred Rogers. I honestly wish the people making that movie had found some unknown actor to play Mr. Rogers.

3. Probably figuring to pull some heart-strings with the GenXers that grew up watching.

Me, I was dad to the GenX. Not even interested despite the fact Hanks generally does a great job.

4. Are you implying Mr. Rogers was a pedophile?

Shame on you. Have you ever watched the show?

I was 30 yrs old before I discovered Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

It was the first time in my life I saw the gentle reassurance given to children that people could love them just the way they are, because we all, every one of us, are special.

Strangely, I watched it for years. It was a show that, even at my age, left me feeling better about myself. I wish I had seen it when I was actually a child.

That show has absolutely nothing in common with church or boy scout scandals.

What's next to trash? Sesame Street?

Besides, if Tom Hanks is in it, it has got to be good.

is automatically linked to pedophilia. This makes me so sad.

6. Mr. Rogers was a knowledgeable, caring professional untainted by scandal. My 37-year old

autistic son who lives with me is anxious to see the movie and so am I. Mr. Rogers has many neighbors young and old.

8. Fred Rogers has long been a hero to me

He proved that kindness, gentleness, curiosity, and consideration were all essential characteristics to being a good person. For all the challenges that he faced, he never strayed from those principals, and his devotion to children and education was always clear.

I find Tom Hanks occasionally cloying, and wouldn't necessarily have seen him in this role, but he's a decent actor. I'm not sure I'd watch it in theaters but I might rent it on Amazon Prime.

Tom Hanks is no Meryl Streep or Daniel Day Lewis when it comes to voice and acting, but heís really good. I will watch the movie first before deciding.

11. I do not know what you mean by this.

Fred Rogers is a hero of mine.

I started watching him as a babysitter in high school.

I raised my sons with him.

A kinder, gentler man was hard to find and one who educated as he entertained was even harder.

I like Tom Hanks and think he is great for this part although I certainly have not seen it yet.

I don't know what you mean by this post but I certainly hope it is not what others are suggesting you meant.

I canít wait to see the movie. And, I think Tom Hanks was a perfect choice. Mr. Rogers was a special human being. I wish there were more of him today. My kids live in Pittsburgh and that city is very proud of him.

Priests or boy scouts. Are you suggesting that Rodgers is anything less than wholesome?

If no, please change your post.

If yes, say it.

Because innuendo is unfair to Rodgers.

age, which is post-Catholic priest/Boy Scout leader/me_too scandals, a show of that nature would be greenlighted today?

29. Yikes.

That must be scary to have those kind of thoughts come to mind about a really good man who did a lot of good for children.

I think it would be wonderful to have a person of his caliber doing what he did.

I donít look forward to lots of movies, but Iím looking forward to that one - and none of that nonsense even came into my mind.

He was on PBS and I think he re-runs too? My kids are long gone and I do not look for that show. I think we would all be better off if there were more influences for our little ones that are like Fred Rogers. Perhaps there are. I do not know.

Thank you for clarifying your original post. I was a little stunned by what you posted!

Mr. Rogers with that kind of thing. You seem to think that nobody can relate to children like he did without some sort of nefarious intent, at the very least.

Mr. Rogers was pretty much a universally beloved person who represented the best Christianity had to offer. Compassionate, understanding, loving, empathetic and all that.

Why would he be lumped in with pedophilia scandals?

What a strange question.
