This was a nation-wide reality check on what a broad, unfiltered crowd of Americans really sound like with their political wake-up call. Really discounts a planned and manufactured PR effort to find 5000 rubes (er,people) to show up at Trumps /Nazi rallies. Watch how the Trump supports continue to melt.

Anyways, lets continue the good fight on the Organized Crime Party, formally known as the GOP. It's RICO, Nancy!

It's amazing as to how the GOP gets incrementally worse over time. I thought Nixon was the lowest point that Republicans would go....then we had Reagan, then Bush/Cheney, and the absolute lowest, Mr. Trump.

(118,630 posts)news? We never see him travel except for helicopter. That is probably a security thing. I remember when Reagan came to ottawa first they repaved the ceremonial route and then the day of ss people were parking their cars on an angle, over the curve, and all wearing pilot shades and trench coats. We knew exactly where Reagan was going to drive. Was true with George W. Bush too. When Obama was in town i wondered if i would see him drive by the mall i had to work at. Turns out he was a block away walking around the Byward Market saying hi to people. I missed him. But it was not announced. Or telegraphed.

(24,455 posts)Reagan gets full credit. He hired Bush for VP and they made the deal for cheap oil while we live with the results.
I came of voting age in the early 70's. Fuck the Republicans! Then I read the Eisenhower Republican Platform and I say, wow. He got it. He understood the Anerican people cuz he watched them fight in WW2. His debt to this country was paid with his political platform in 1954 (I believe).

Soft spoken..had a the perfectly cool low energetic effective speaking quality..which made him look/sound like a competent President....But let me tell ya.. Ronald Reagan did a hell of a lot of damage to our country! Big Fing Time.. and I just love his 2 kids... So frustrating..

(52,205 posts)Indeed, the media should clearly note every staged performance he gives, and prominently declare that he can't face a normal crowd without getting resoundingly boo'd.
And he knows it, which is exactly why his crowds are all filtered and stacked and prepped.
But they won't. Because the media still is heavily biased against us.

Can never tell what's really happening in those videos of pans of huge crowds.
It's certainly makes for a helpful headline. But is even that being reported everywhere, in the MSM, or only on sites like DU?

(43,049 posts)tipping point, and that may have been it.
Nixon was re-elected with 60% of the popular vote, and every state but Mass. That was in '72. By '74 Barry Goldwater and a few others convinced him that he had only a dozen or so votes in the Senate to beat impeachment. What happened?
It took one lousy tape to change the the President who opened China, battled the Soviets in the Cold War, fought for school integration, gave us the EPA, and almost gave us health care to become the lowlife that we see him as now.
Trump is way past that, but has enough PR savvy to keep it under wraps.

(24,455 posts)Been thru 3 of these Presidential Impeachments. My quick recall-
Nixon - Deserved - He wanted inside dirt on the Democratic Party. Why?, to create a single Party political environment with his Party in control..
Clinton- Blowjob with a consenting adult. Undeserved. Total BS reasons....unless every goddam President should answer for their Big Libido's. See Gingrich and Livingstone managing their consorts during impeachment.
Trump - Are you shitting me? He is owned by Putin. Nuff said. Traitor.

(10,123 posts)still damp from the premature ejaculation thrill of being in on getting to kill someone .
His narcissism probably had him expecting thunderous cheering for having the courage to sit in a safe room thousands of miles away watching the US military kill terrorists, women and children.
From the look on his and Melania's face, that booing was a pretty serious lunch bag let down.
Millions of viewers saw it during the game. And then the media and social media picked it up - so hundreds of millions or billions of people around the world saw it and/or know about it. It was a great thing for America that the rest of the world got to see that.
It was not a good thing for Trump that the power brokers in the back room of the GOP, deliberating if they should bet billions of dollars and wager their political fortunes on Trump, got to see it too.

(1,428 posts)LIL DONNIE AT THE BAT by W Earl Brown
The outlook wasnt brilliant for the Traitorous nine that night;
as they strode in late, a strutting, chest-puffing sight.
With McCarthys lips orange-stained and Scalises the same,
a mighty roar began to grow among the patrons of the game.
Something very big has just happened tweeted in expectation;
a terrorist vanquished brought dreams of adulation.
Trump was sure to be held high up on the Jumbotron,
raucous cheers were sure to shower down upon Lil Don.
But an immigrant sang the Anthem, bringing the crowd to its feet.
Twere an ominous premonition before Donny took his seat.
So upon that stricken multitude grim melancholy sat,
with Schadenfreude in the On Deck, readying his mighty bat.
The camera found its bounty as announcer keyed his mic,
the time to smile and gloat was now directly in his sight.
Visions of Glory danced in Lil Donnies head,
the self-aware few near him became suddenly filled with dread.
As their visage flashed large upon the huge screen,
the multitudes saw through them, saw the grandstanding scheme.
Billion dollar smiles turned sour the moment it turned clear;
they were not welcomed in this glorious World Series year.
Arm Candys smiles and Donnies wave were quickly replaced
by sullen visage as Blue Steel appeared upon their face.
Toady Gaetz loudly yelled, hoping Lil Donnie wouldnt hear,
a fifty-thousand strong, oh-so-mighty jeer.
An Heros Welcome was a fools game plan,
after his crimes and treason had been exposed to man.
It pained him worse than fastball to the cup,
as the many Mighty Americans round him chanted Lock Him Up
They saw his face grow stern and cold, they saw his muscles strain,
as Schandenfreude smacked a four-bag-dinger yet again.
The sneer is gone from Dons lip, his teeth are clinched in hate;
a Twitter tantrum soon coming as he hurls White House plates.
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in MAGAville Lil Donnie has struck out.

(2,412 posts)Yes, this was a big turning point. This is a country that worships sports. And we a are a country that has blurred Patriotism into the world of sports. Baseball is a very traditional American thing, like apple pie. The stadium full of fans who boooed him and chanted Lock him up! Are a cross section of America. It was public and it was broadcast. Yes, the Foxistas would be surprised by this. The tied has turned for sure!!!!!!

(3,426 posts)I think Trump thought it would be a hero's welcome with cheers and lots of applause . I think he thought of himself as being most brilliant as the producer ,director and star of the show. In the very early hours of Sunday morning ,Trump was most likely rubbing his hands together in glee believing his scam would put the impeachment momentum in the stops. At the very least he figured the showing would be good for his campaign effort for being cheered and receiving much applause from a regular crowd. Instead he was forced or forced himself to confront or be confronted with the cold truth. Illusions of grandeur out of the mouth of a guy that just makes stuff up. A liar. I suppose his audience wonders what he will do next as the show must go on, as they say in the entertainment business.
What a sad state of affairs.
