(29,191 posts)some poor schlub that LOOKED like Baghdadi and was strapped with a bomb vest (remotely triggered when he was trapped)
who didn't speak English of course.
Probably the same person who was the source of the used underwear and blood given to the Americans as "from Baghdadi" for the DNA test (they learned from Bin Laden). A plan put in place probably months in the making.
Baghdadi hasn't been making much noise in the last few years... so he might be dead already or has been spirited out of the area a long time ago.

(10,749 posts)Right now they all seem to be reporting what is being reported from the WH.
The Russians have questioned the WH reporting, including that the raid took place.
We know - or at least strongly believe, thanks to Pete Souza - that the photo of the buffoon watching the raid was staged. Whether it was or wasn't, WTF was the story with all those cables?
-- So. . . Are there any independent sources for the following?
-- Did the raid take place?
-- Did the raid take place where it was reported that it took place?
-- Which other country/countries supported the raid, and how? The Russians have already said nope. What have the Turks said? And did the Turks and the Kurds cooperate?
-- Some people say that the military carried out the raid without Trump's prior knowledge so that he wouldn't reveal it to the world. Was this true?
-- Was it Baghdadi who was killed? After all, he has been reported killed 6 times before.
-- Was Baghdadi in a wheel chair? Was he wearing a suicide vest? If so, doesn't that strike you as weird, assuming he didn't know the raid, if it took place, was about to take place?
-- Did he run down a tunnel? Did he wheel chair down a tunnel?
-- Were children killed? Is this SOP for this sort of raid?
-- If the raid took place and if the photo was staged, was Trump in fact playing golf when US Special Forces risked their lives for an election campaign?
Thanks to Obama, many Isis fighters were imprisoned. How active has Isis been in recent years and to what degree has Baghdadi been active in planning terrorist attack? And now, thanks to Trump, Isis fighters are available to take up the fight once more. To what degree is Isis set up to allow others to plan and conduct terrorist attacks without Baghdadi or his possible second in command who was reportedly killed in the past few days?
Anyone?
Call me a cynic, but I don't believe anything coming from the WH (and fuck Nate Silver for his tweet re giving Trump his due on this raid).

Critics claimed a picture of President Trump watching a raid in Syria unfold from the White House was actually taken after the fact.

(101,265 posts)... Mr. Trump imagined how he would behave if his own scam had been fully exposed, and he was cornered by people who were determined to put a stop to him, one way or another. He tried to imagine taking three of his children with him, could obviously decide that Don Jr and Eric would be two of them, but couldn't decide on the third."

(2,061 posts)Say we did execute someone who was whimpering and crying... No one should ever hear about that.
I am now and have always been opposed to executions. I do get that some do find them necessary and I accept that I'm in the minority. Never should a President say that we executed someone who was whimpering and crying.
