I have had plenty of problems with his tendency to want to fight everyone that gives the country a stink eye. Super-patriotism is as bad as treason, IMO, because in any term it hurts us badly.

If Bolton witnessed Trump doing acts of treason, yes Trump has a big problem. Bolton likely realizes that rightwing patriotic republicans are in this country, he will likely dump on Trump like a bird that has diarrhea.

It means he'll be part of the minority for a long time and won't affect foreign policy at all. On top of that, he'll just be a news commentator and work at a think tank on trying to figure out how to repair US relations around the world, not capitalize on them. This has to piss him off a lot.
