1. Maybe

It may be that she has some hope to get a few repugs involved, it would definitely look better if it were not just dems voting for.

2. Possibly a more pertinent question: What would the upside be?

There's no reason to take up challenges demanded by the opposition if you have no reason to.

There's no requirement for it. There's nothing to be gained from it.

Every vote spends political capital. Why spend it if you don't need to.

What they should be doing is flooding the airwaves with issue ads about Trump's lack of a foreign policy and enriching himself.

4. Yes

Clock may be restarted on some matters. Delay.

5. Trump will consider it a win and only ask for more.

No reason to do it.

6. Yes

The Democrats would be giving in to agent orange's silly games. There is no requirement for the investigation to be public at this stage. There is no precedent for it: the rethugs didn't do it when investigating Clinton. It was not done when the Watergate crime spree was being investigated.

rethugs are metaphorically throwing chum and mud into the waters. Speaker Pelosi isn't falling for it.

7. I think she's trying to protect D seats in moderate or red areas.

I don't think it's much more than that, on our side.

8. The GOP will just move the goalposts

and demand something else. Pelosi knows how to deal with children.

9. Trump will just keep making up bullshit "rules"

Good thing she said no. She is in charge of the House.

10. Yes...

Been trying to follow but I think once the vote is taken the repugs get to get involved in the investigation

And if the actual impeachment vote is taken they'll rush it through the trial and acquit him before the public learns the full story

Plus holding off shows Trump he's not in charge

11. Of course not. The tremendous plus is that the country

will see us stand up for what is right...with a loud and unequivocal voice. AYE!

12. I'm nearly certain that the IMMEDIATE response to such a vote...

...would be an instantaneous pivot from calling the impeachment illegitimate because the vote hadn't been held, to calling it illegitimate because only Democrats had voted for it, "proving" that the impeachment was "a partisan witch hunt".
