Future ISIS suicide bombings in the USA, likely!

Washington (CNN) - A wide range of American military personnel and defense officials are expressing a deep sense of frustration and anger at the Trump administration's refusal to support Syrian Kurds facing a Turkish military assault, over half a dozen US military and defense officials have told CNN.

Several US military and defense officials, including personnel deployed to Syria, expressed dismay at how the Trump administration has handled the situation.

One US official said it is well known that some senior US military officials are livid at how the Kurds have been treated given their role in helping the US fight ISIS.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces "are fighting a force that intends to eliminate their people because we green lighted their operation," a senior US defense official told CNN referring to the Turkish operation.

Another US military official involved in operations in Syria said he was "ashamed" of his country's actions with regards to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, saying the US had failed to defend its one-time ally in the fight against ISIS. https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/15/politics/us-troops-syria-anger/index.html?utm_source=CNN+Five+Things&utm_campaign=7674abb90d-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_10_15_07_59&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6da287d761-7674abb90d-104928233

Most readers realize that ISIS considers the USA - including civilian targets - their worst enemies.

To imagine ISIS has no way to enter the USA and inflict as much damage as possible, is ludicrous. Hashish from the region certainly gets into the USA and ISIS operatives can invade on the same freighters.

Trump has done everything possible to create a national emergency and ISIS suicide bombings, right before the elections, would certainly qualify.

How can anyone at D,U. fail to post their opinion of this O.P. when it's about the potential of ISIS hitting your hometown?

1. I'm sure there are

"sleepers" already in place here. I recall all the russians who showed up as hospitality workers several years back. Many overstayed visas, some got pregnant/married and most stayed here one way or another.

2. The Alarming Scope of the President's Emergency Powers

It is not hard to speculate as to where this is going. In fact, I have expected it.

We simply have to impeach/stop him before we can't. I get the sense that he is drooling and scheming right now to increase his powers. Even though he has to announce them and what they are to be used for, we know he may not follow procedures. It all comes down to what happens that might allow him to grab more control.

From seizing control of the internet to declaring martial law, President Trump may legally do all kinds of extraordinary things.

More is at stake here than the outcome of one or even two elections. Trump has long signaled his disdain for the concepts of limited presidential power and democratic rule. During his 2016 campaign, he praised murderous dictators. He declared that his opponent, Hillary Clinton, would be in jail if he were president, goading crowds into frenzied chants of “Lock her up.” He hinted that he might not accept an electoral loss. As democracies around the world slide into autocracy, and nationalism and antidemocratic sentiment are on vivid display among segments of the American populace, Trump’s evident hostility to key elements of liberal democracy cannot be dismissed as mere bluster.

5. Thanks for the link; but it's spooky; and

After reviewing the article, a reader could easily come to the conclusion that Teflon Don plans to install a dictatorship in the USA. The criminal would finally become nearly impossible to prosecute, after he becomes a Hitler-like dictator.

6. Yes, it sure is.

That's why their has always been a concern about emergency and war powers that are given to a President. This has been an ongoing process over the years. Each time there has been an "emergency" it seems they are increased in order for the President to act quickly, but I don't think they are revoked afterwards.

It is not like we are being partisan or paranoid when we really understand who this person is, what he wants and just what he might do. I didn't like Dubya, (or his handlers) at all, but I was more concerned about his actions in the Middle-East and had no sense that he was trying to take over or take down the country.

This time, there is real cause for concern and Trump's rhetoric supports that. It just adds to the importance of expediting and following through on impeachment. Our country depends dearly on that now.

So, yes, spooky and alarming.

From MBS and Saudi intelligence.

4. My friends and family have been worried about this end result for quite a while.

Every time I see a large gathering of people, I cringe. We have our own local terrorists to worry about with these mass-killing guns and now Trump is giving us fear of being in large crowds or even parking/shopping at the grocery store or mall.

How can anyone be sympathetic to this idiot in office?

Oh, don't even get me started. My mind is flying faster than I can type.

I ache for my grand/great-grandchildren for the world we are leaving to them.

Of course if it does, Chump will give us the finger and say it's the democrats' fault and the religious right will say we brought it on ourselves.

8. They know we are on the downhill slide.

We are vulnerable and they will think they can do anything they want and get away with it.

Time is on their side for at least another year.

9. Especially considering how most govt agencies are being dismantled

and are barely keeping the wheels on.

I wouldn't trust border control any more than I would the FDA, USDA, EPA or any other agencies right now.

10. I worry about a lot of things

but suicide bombings in the US are not high at all. I worry more about right wing domestic terrorism especially since they are radicalized based on incorrect beliefs.

11. I am ashamed and grateful

Shamed that I trusted our government and military would protect the homeland and keep us safe. I took that for granted and did not consider my own responsibilities.

I am grateful that saner heads have prevailed, those who saw the looming threat I did not. I thank GAWD that as boatloads of ISIS suicide bombers and their hashish are on the way to my hometown I still can buy an AR-15 for myself and every member of my family to fight these ISIS operatives coming to our shores. We cannot trust our government, cannot trust our military, cannot trust our police in the face of this emergency. Like the citizens of the Revolution, we can only rely on ourselves to protect our Republic.

I thank the OP for bringing this important matter to us here at DU and urge everyone to prepare to defend themselves and their cities and towns against these terrorists who are going to bring the war to you.

12. I think this thread we are going overboard with ISIS fear as much as the Border militias patrolling

the borders looking for ISIS.

16. A better question:

Last edited Tue Oct 15, 2019, 04:06 PM - Edit history (1)

Why do they need ANY nuclear devices?

Allowing Dubya to "out" the entire NSA by ordering them to spy on ALL US citizens and then present the lengthy, previously prepared USA PATRIOT ACT, which abolished the 4th Amendment of the Constitution, ISIS-like terrorist only needed to hijack a few passenger aircraft to destroy twin-towers of the Trade Center, in New York.

On edit: the terrorist that hijacked the passenger aircraft only needed box-cutters and limited piloting ability to destroy the Trade Center.

Who had heard of the most diverse intelligence agency on Earth, before 9/11?

18. 'No Such Agency', pre-9/11,

Was maybe not mentioned as much as the CIA but their existence was as 'secret' as NORAD's Cheyenne mountain.

I have opposed the so-called Patriot Act since day one. Unfortunately many Democrats supported it at the time and still support parts when they are convenient.

17. I read a news report that Turkey is freeing the ISIS prisoners. If they are suddenly in Turkey's

good graces, they might find themselves in Turkey where our nuclear weapons are currently stranded.

And guarded by US troops. Do you think they will just hand them over to some guys in a pickup truck?

20. It's also been reported that there is no plan in place to remove them. Given what the Turkish

military is currently doing in Syria, nothing would surprise me. I doubt Mike Pence and Pompeo are going to make much headway on their trip since Pootie is already on the scene. Trump has so totally fucked up this part of the world, we might have U.S. troops evacuated in order to save their lives which would leave the nukes up for grabs.

21. Any plan of moving nuclear weapons in the news

Is immediately suspect.

If we decide to leave the base, the nukes come with. I have first hand knowledge of policies that if it come down to a choice between saving troops lives or protecting nukes from falling into unauthorized hands, the troops lives will take second place on the priority list.
