(12,081 posts)election time is the only time I can stand to be on here because there are so many people who have a little too much fun being nasty. But I am glad DU is here. I do enjoy talking to other democrats around election time. Welcome new DUers.

(80,708 posts)You signed up 6 years ago, and waited that entire time until now, to write that as your first post?

(13,485 posts)I am beginning to find a niche here. I like the open forum attitude that includes stimulating conversation and just enough crazy to keep things lubricated.
Thanks for the ride.

Myself I worry we'll go back to the days of Bush and my life savings will disappear if Romney wins!

(7,160 posts)My computer blew up so I quit paying for the internet lost my email account couldn't remember my screen name or pw when I got a new computer. I joined in 2004 but again forgot login info rejoined in 2008 didn't post much until recently because I felt demoralized after 2010. Then I moved back to Ohio because of aging parents. If it wasn't for DU I would rip my hair out I live in a Teabagger Haven just south of Deliverance Country Ohio. It's bad because prior to that I lived in Joe "You Lie" Wilson"s disrict in South Carolina, and it was less tea-baggery than here. These tools here think Rush Limbaugh is God, Glenn Beck is the messiah and Sarah Palin is intelligent and classy.
Welcome to all the new DUers

(2,424 posts)I used to be a moderate. I used to be an independent.
Then came Jerry Falwell, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, the theatric impeachment of Bill Clinton, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Pat Robertson, Fox News, George W. Bush, The Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Herman Cain, Paul Ryan, and Mitt Romney.
I feel like I just won an acadamy award. What is it they all say? "Just too many names to list".
I have been pummeled with an ever worsening political climate through the years. It is so very unfortunate that young folks didn't live through my era. Then they would truly see how bad it has become for the working man. But being young, they have no frame of reference. They have no personal history to compare it to. They think it has always been this way.
Small incremental changes over a long period of time. It is like studying geology. It took years to get this bad. Meanwhile, after President Obama's eighth day in office, Mitt Romney told Fox news that President Obama had "not done enough".
A flat out fucking moron Mitt Romney is. I have never referenced a Presidential candidate with such disrespect before. I wouldn't speak of John McCain in such a manner. I wouldn't speak of Barry Goldwater this way. But Mitt Romney is absolutely the worst Presidential candidate in my long lifetime.
He is an arrogant, self important, ruthless, uninspiring, stupid, money hungry, flip flopping, phony, disconnected, liar. His own party even had to endure the "anybody but Mitt" syndrome. If there was one single GOP candidate with a lick of sense, Mitt would not be the nominee. I despise his politics and I despise him as a person. If by some miracle he is elected, he won't last more than one term. But America may not either.
Ever watch the movie "Mad Max"? That is the world that his vision, over time, would bring us.
