Some folks I know who are predictably prone to posting brainless

pro-Trump nonsense on Facebook daily have fallen silent of late. Totally. I believe they are embarrassed and are being silent because they can't let on that they are feeling something other than loyalty to Trump right now.

It's not just one or two, either. There is general silence on the Trump front on my FB feed, where I am non-political by choice. They seem to have nothing to say at all, which is very, very uncharacteristic.

It is very interesting.

2. I've noticed it

It reminds me of people I knew who told me they voted for Reagan who later swore up and down that they didn’t.

It might be temporary. I just don't know.

8. And after Watergate and Nixon's resignation you couldn't find anybody

who admitted they voted for him even though he won 49 states in '72. One rare exception was my great-aunt, who kept a picture of him on her living room wall and insisted he'd been framed. I think there will also be a fair number of Trumpers who'll pretend they never liked him at all. ("He was just a coffee boy; I hardly knew him."

28. Yeah, but he's nuts. And there are still a few other old Nixonites

in, around, or cheerleading for the current maladministration (e.g., Pat Buchanan, Ben Stein, Dick Cheney), but they are or were political operatives. After 1974 it became pretty hard to find any Nixon voters among the regular population.

35. my grandma stopped voting after Nixon resigned.

She tells me she doesn't remember who she voted for in those elections or the elections prior. She quit voting when Nixon resigned. . She said they were all a bunch of crooks. The first time she voted since then was 2016 when she voted for Hillary She is 95 years old.

I was born in 1986.

He's still posting on FB, but none of his usual pro-Trump memes and such.

10. There is a pretty fair chance all of this will end in a whimper, really.

It's easy to post memes on Facebook. All you have to is share someone else's meme. It's also easy to stop doing that, which is what I'm seeing happening. If a person doesn't even have the energy and commitment to click the share button, they're not very committed, it seems to me.

A lot of people who make a lot of noise aren't really getting involved. They're just clicking Share. When the going gets tough, they're nowhere to be found. That's my experience, anyhow, from long ago when I was still street active.

9. The few I have left have switched from

being full-on pro-trump, to being a bit more sideways about it. One example from yesterday was a post saying that dems are trying to impeach a guy who exposed a crime, so we can elect the guy who committed the crime. My eyes almost fell out the back of my head from rolling back so violently...

11. The people who post on my Home feed are just people who share from

other feeds. They never come up with anything of their own. They're not instigators - just followers. I don't know if they've just stopped sharing or whether the people whose crap they share have stopped creating the crap. I just know that it's not showing up on my feed right now.

What that means remains to be seen, but it's a good sign for the moment.

It's a pleasant break. I keep Facebook politics-free in terms of what I post there. It's strictly a family, friends, and acquaintances for me.

I'll like and, from time to time, reply to political posts put up by news sites and the like - but other than wishing Jimmy Carter well (knock wood), my wall is largely politics-free.

17. I don't post anything on my facebook

I follow a few people I know to see which way the wind blows. One particular one hates liberals, loves Trump and her grandkids. Now she’s only posting pictures of her grandkids.

And yeah, she’s never come up with anything original. Everything is filth she just received and passed on.

18. I also keep my FB postings non-political.

Family and friends only. But I can corroborate what you are seeing. Those who have been avid Trump supporters are no longer commenting on politics.

Honestly, after all that has happened (capped now by the treacherous treatment of our Kurdish allies) I don’t understand how anyone can continue to support him and his enablers.

I appreciate your postings Mineral Man.

19. The "Gym TV Channel" indicator concurs.

At the gym I go to, there are three TVs which can only show CNN, Faux Nooze, ESPN, and HGTV, and the remotes are out for anyone to change channels. Usually the ratio of TVs on CNN to those on Faux is about even over several trips to the gym. In the last few (maybe more) weeks, the ratio has been more like 3 CNN to 1 Faux. I think the Fauxzies are discouraged.

21. Instead of kissing mf45's & conjob ass they are attacking Dems and Immigrants

"The Democrats doesn't understand the effects if they allowed illegal immigrants to cross the border freely. If you're a foreigner who came here legally your status whether you like it or not will be ignored by most American public because even you were born here or came here legally in the United states they will still have the first impression that you are still illegal in this country unless they know you. You can't blame them because the Democrats themselves are inserting this idea to mind of the American public. That was why even if you're American born or American Citizen by paper or legal immigrant to the eyes of some American people you will still illegal here unless if they change the immigration law to be lawful and legal. In short it's called stereotyping" -idiot uncle

It can't be done. I don't even think Alex Jones could come up with a conspiracy that could spin this. Or not, there are no depths to how low they will sink.

32. They even seem to have given up the "owning the libs" BS excuse for supporting Trump

For a while there, after it became abundantly evident Trump was just a greedy, lying con man out to screw working people, the only thing left was how much he upset the liberals. After setting fire to their own houses and watching them burn to the ground, just so the smoke would piss off their liberal neighbors down the block, reality must have set in.
