About the planned power outage in California, happening now

Aside from the fire risk issues, I am having trouble understanding how a widely-notified massive power outage affecting hundreds of thousands of people, for at least 24-hours... How does this not result in a massive crime spree??

I have to imagine this is every criminal's dream, knowing in advance exactly which cities will be without power for possibly days?

I just don't get it

i live in the sierra nevadas near yosemite np. 2 milestones were crossed with this . 1: power was to be turned off at midnite . then 3 am. next milestone is 12 noon today. looking at wind map, the high winds havent materialized yet. but.... i cant help u on the possible crime wave . be safe .

2. Our power was shut off at around 1 AM. Humboldt County here.

4. Is this just PG&E's version of a strike?

They are holding electrons hostage because they want relief from wildfire liabilities?
