Weird... white house paper but Trump Hotel folders. Junk about Ukraine stuff, trash about Biden, and apparently looking for ways to slander the former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch (who was nastily fired because, apparently, she cares about our relations with Ukraine) and who will be testifying to Congress next week.
The IG had a bag full of this, and it's not clear where he got it, who it had been sent to, what was to be done with it-- except it sounds like Trump wanted Pompeo to use this to slander people.
But.... I think this -- which would have been a huge scandal in any other administration but is "no big deal" here-- is just a cover. I think the IG told the committees something highly volatile and they're holding it back and putting out the cover story so that they can reveal it during the hearings.
Here's an example of why they might want to do that-- The Watergate hearings staff talked to Alexander Butterfield in a closed room, learned something BIG (really big), and locked it down. Then in public session, Fred Thompson (you will recognize his voice from the Law & Order show! He later became a star there) asked, "Are you aware of any taping devices in the White House?"
Bombshell. It took a year-- Nixon fought tooth and nail to keep from releasing those tapes, for many good reasons- but this was the beginning of the end.
